The piebald tom wandered the perimeter around the warehouse entrance. Well, not exactly "wandered" - wandering suggested aimlessness, and he was supposed to be out here now, making the rounds, looking out for suspicious activity, and so on. However, since nothing particular was happening at the moment and he had yet to make any interesting sightings...it did feel like aimless wandering. Fangorn suppressed a bored sigh, and forced himself to remain alert. But he couldn't help being disgusted with the state of things in his world just now. Other than one very odd conversation with Gilbert, which had gone absolutely nowhere and had given him no new information to speak of, he had had a very dull time of it indeed. Jellylorum - Tugger - some other Jellicle queens - he still did not have the entire story straight, and could not piece together what Macavity intended to do next. It was not his place to know the boss's mind, of course, but he did wish to know about where the action was. Because, he thought as he glanced around the (for the moment) deserted area, it clearly wasn't here.

((Enter "Ripper"))
Sillabub lightly stepped across the construction site, as she held one of her homemade daggers. It was clutched in her paw tightly, as her eyes scanned the area. A frown was on her face, as no one seemed to be around. Her dagger had a loop attached to the handle of it, where one of her fingers tended to rest, whenever she held it. Spinning it around her finger, idly, she strutted passed the site and towards the entrance of the warehouse. Her muse for spinning the dagger died down upon seeing Fangorn up ahead. She walked until she was near the wall of the warehouse, and leaned against it. "Didja finally get a promotion? Or you just waiting for a special someone, Fangy?" Her dagger was still in her paw, her finger resting in the loop. And she felt the itch to begin twirling it again. To keep her paws busy, not to impress.

Fangorn had automatically gone into a defensive stance at the sound of approaching pawsteps. Seeing that it was a fellow hench, however, and a pretty one to boot, he relaxed and his face brightened considerably. This day may have just gotten a lot better. "Greetings, Miss Sillabub," he said, leaning slightly against the wall and standing in such a way as to keep his eyes more or less on her while also remaining aware of his surroundings. "I am out patrolling the area. I must admit, it's been dull as tombs thus far. However, I'm certain it won't remain that way for long now that you have arrived." He grinned and gave her a slight wink. He also remained on his guard. He didn't know Sillabub well, but he had heard and seen enough of her to know that one never knew quite what she was thinking or what she might do. That...well, and her propensity for ripping at things with those weapons she carried around...were part of what made her such an asset to the henches, and so dangerous. He liked that about her; it was good, being kept on one's toes.

Sillabub watched the tom intently, though did allow herself to smile at him. Twirling the dagger once more between her fingers, her smile turned into a grin. "Should I assume your patrol is official for you now being a warrior, or is your head still in the clouds?" She twirled her special dagger once more, before placing it to the belt attached to her hip. Moving closer to Fangorn, she couldn't help but brush her mane from her eyes. Batting her eyelashes, she once more leaned against the wall though now within reach of the tom. "Well, I just finished my patrol. So don't think I'll be pulling double duty. But...I wouldn't mind giving you some company, at least for a little while." Even she couldn't stay up all the time, she would be needing sleeping in an hour or two.

Fangorn nodded in response to her question. "Yes," he replied, "I'm now officially a guard - protector - whatever term you like." He tried to keep his tone nonchalant, which wasn't as difficult as one might think. He was pleased at the promotion, of course, but it hadn't exactly been a shock. To him, it had been something he'd hoped for...yes, and expected...for some time now. In his mind, he had done well for Macavity, and now it had paid off - simple as that. Fang turned his attention back to Sillabub. "I will appreciate and enjoy your company for as long as you are pleased to give it," he said gallantly; "however, I would not wish to rob you of one moment of needed rest."

Sillabub tilted her head, almost coyly as she smirked at the taller tom. "Aw Fangy. You know I do what I please." She playfully punched the tom's shoulder, winking just as playfully up at him. "If I want to go inside to get needed rest I will. If I choose to enjoy your company instead, I'll do that. And no one is going to change my mind either which way. So you're stuck with me for now." She began to walk ahead of Fangorn as though she were going back to her patrol duties, that were now over. Though she did look back at the tom and added. "So sorry to disappoint." But since she figured she was reading him pretty well, she thought for certain he wasn't at all upset about her presence. So her last statement was merely a jest.

Fangorn grinned back at the queen, enjoying the slight bantering. He was pleased to have encountered her in a good humour - not, of course, that he assumed she was generally in a bad one. He was simply unfamiliar with her, not having spoken to her much before, and knowing her mainly by reputation. For now, at any rate, she was quite pleasant. Fang watched her walk on ahead and answered in the same teasing tone, "Ah, such a shame. I must try to get over it and live another day." He glanced around, ever mindful of his duties. "I don't suppose you saw any interesting activity on your patrol?" he asked, his tone back to normal.

Sillabub stopped short at his playful words, and couldn't help the pleased expression that crossed her face. Why hadn't she been spending more time with this tom? It was something she'd probably wonder more in depth later that evening when she was laying down to sleep. It proved to be an interesting night already. Sillabub had half a mind to march her little golden behind right back up to Fangorn and engage in some flirting, but she liked the light banter. Besides she had tried the direct flirting on more then one occasion and it had never ended well. "Well if you can't do it and you just up and die tonight. I'll be sure to weep at the eulogy."
She giggled softly under her breath, definitely picking up the sudden mood in Fang. The shift. She did nod solemnly. "Due to the missing Jellicles", Sillabub had spit out, her anger and hatred of them extremely present in her new tone. "There has been an increase in jellicle activity." The venom was still present, her eyes piercing now with unspoken rage towards the supposedly "good" tribe. "Since Tugger and Tanomile's little incursion, they haven't yet crossed into our territory, but I feel its only a matter of time." Her presence walked silently beside Fangorn, now both comforted and appreciative of not being the only protector of the tribe. She did add in an ominous tone. "Your first patrol might become a memorable one."

Fangorn watched her with interest as she spoke of the Jellicles. Noting her obvious hatred for them, he wondered if her perilous side most manifested itself in involvement with those dancing felines. All the Henches held varying degrees of dislike for the Jellicles, of course; but Sillabub's seemed especially venomous. Then again, as he recalled, she had once lived among them. In his experience, the Jellicles tended to cling very tightly together - calling themselves "family," he thought with an inward sneer - so something terrible must have happened for her to leave them. He supposed it shouldn't surprise him, then, that she should hate them so. And it was certainly reassuring, in regards to her loyalty toward Macavity. Couldn't have her torn between tribes; that'd be troublesome. "Interesting," he nodded, as she mentioned the increase in Jellicle activity. He couldn't help rubbing his paws together in anticipation. "I do hope you are correct," he added, when she commented that this patrol might be memorable. "Who knows," he winked slightly, "but what you and I might end up taking in some prisoners together."

Sillabub's fingers itched. With all the talk of jellicles, she felt the urge to sink her claws into something. To do something. The last time she had been involved with Jellicles, she hadn't done anything but wait...for them. Where did it get her? Almost a straight shot to the everlasting cat. That wasn't going to be her fate, not anymore. The urge, and her own anger, at the jellicles, and at herself for having once placed all her heart, faith, love and devotion into that group of cats, got the better of her.
Gripping her handmade dagger, she swiftly pulled it out and with swift movements flung it to the ground a few feet away. A shriek died off, and Sillabub stepped over and retrieved her dagger. On the end of it a dead rat was clearly impaled. "If were going to have a busy night, we may as well eat something to keep our strength up. Care to share?" She waved it about in front of Fangorn. "And cooked, or raw?"

Fangorn watched Sillabub throw her dagger and land them a nice plump rat. He couldn't help but be impressed. He glanced down at his claws briefly, considering. The idea of using any weapons apart from his own built-in ones (namely, claws and teeth) had never really occurred to him. But perhaps he should think about it. He was an effective enough fighter without other weapons, but he was also limited to close-quarters combat. Suppose he could take out an enemy from far off?
Tucking these considerations away for later, Fang turned his attention back to Sillabub and her catch. "Impressive hit, milady," he said with a slight whistle. "I would be glad to share." At her question of cooked or raw, he shrugged his shoulders. Meat was meat, and it tasted good both ways. "Whichever you would prefer. It is your catch, and will be delicious however it's consumed."

It didn't take long for Sillabub to notice the stare Fangorn had at either the back of her head or at her dagger. She much preferred to think of him staring at her backside, and that thought made her grin in satisfaction. Recapturing the vibe they had going before the mention of the jellicles was already smoothing over her ruffled feathers, and bringing her positive spirits back up. She knew the Jellicles would be mentioned more then just the one time before the night was over, and knew she had to get a better grip over her anger. She needed to use that anger if there was a fight between them and the jellicles, not get in a huff long before a fight ever occurs.
Sillabub headed towards a large crate at the corner of the warehouse grounds. It was easy to keep an eye on their borders, but enclosed enough to hide the fire, in case of any enemies lurking nearby. She squatted down, moving the rat off of her dagger and onto the ground, then wiped the dagger clean against the grass beneath her. She tilted her head, a wide grin on her face, and the dagger pointed at Fang. "I prefer cooked, so if you don't mind getting the wood for the fire." It wasn't a question, nor was it a command. She placed the dagger back at her side, not willing to leave it next to their dinner. Luck would have it that her precious dagger would be missing upon her return. "I'll grab the tinder." She had already spotted several large rocks she could scrap her dagger across to spark the tinder, but they still needed that as well as the wood.

Fangorn lifted the corner of his mouth in a crooked grin. "Back in a moment," he responded, before heading off to gather the wood. He did not forget his job: there were stray sticks and branches to be found quite close by, and he could still keep an eye on things while gathering. As he loaded his arms up with wood, he thought of this queen - yes, and even marveled a bit. It was clear why Sillabub was an asset to Macavity's cause: a dangerous fighter, and she knew how to get others to do what she wanted without actually trying. Of course, Fang might not be the greatest example of this; it wasn't too difficult for any queen to get him to do her bidding, so long as it didn't clash with whatever he had to do for Macavity. But even still... Well, he'd never thought a former Jellicle would fit in here so perfectly. It made him wonder briefly about his brother and how well he was meshing with the Jellicles. Splendidly, no doubt. Alonzo had always been nothing but a great softy. Fangorn might find out for himself, if the Jellicles were foolish enough to come on any rescue missions soon. He almost hoped something like that would happen on his patrol tonight; he wouldn't mind seeing The Ripper in action...
Shrugging his shoulders, he made his way back over to the place Sillabub had chosen for the fire, and laid the kindling he'd gathered into a pile. "I believe this will be enough to suit our purposes," he said.

After Fangorn had turned around to go get the wood, without complaint, Sillabub ducked around the corner of the small enclosed space. Her eyes were glued to the ground, and as soon as she had picked up enough dried leaves, and dead grass, she went back. Piling it in a circle, she bent over and grabbed the rock she had been eyeing earlier. Her eyebrow quirked up at the sound of Fangorn's voice, and she turned back a smile tugging at her lips and shining in her eyes. "Perfect." Her eyes had been staring at him, and she left him in wonder if she was referring to the wood he had brought, or him. She began to rearrange the wood into a pyramid over the tinder. Once that was in place she took out her dagger, put the rock near the tinder and began to scrape the metal of the dagger along the coarse rock.
A few more tries, and it began to spark. Eventually the sparks were enough to start to ignite the tinder and the wood. She kept a close on the fire, knowing it was at the beginning and could still go out. But in the meantime, she directed her attention back to Fangorn. Small chitchat would be okay, while they both waited for the fire to grow enough to actually cook their meal. "I have a question, if I may Fangorn." Sillabub didn't wait long enough to get his confirmation. Just throwing the politeness out there was enough for her. "Why did it take your promotion for us to start speaking and..." She looked around, gesturing to everything. "Hanging out?"
