Aristophanes glanced around before crawling out and leaning up against the pipe, dragging with him his latest find: A heavy-duty copy of The Complete Works of William Shakespeare. He opened up the book with some difficulty, and turned the pages a bit before stopping at a spot somewhere in the middle of Hamlet. He began to read.
((who wants to come interrupt our studious Ari? lol))

((Me! I've got all these OCs sitting here that aren't going off to war with the men, and I don't think I've even introduced half of them!))
Kitanellie crept along behind the large rubbish piles, avoiding the huge, open centre. Large, empty spaces gave her the creeps. As she padded along she spotted Aristophanes by the pipe, whom she only knew by his face from seeing him about the Junkyard once or twice. He had seemed mostly harmless at the time. She knew she was already within his field of sight, so there was no point in trying to sneak away unnoticed. She approached him and sat down at his feet, maintaining a safe enough distance.
After a long pause she asked timidly, "Whatcha doing?"

Aristophanes was so intrigued with what he was reading, that he didn't even notice the kitten until she spoke. "Huh?" He jumped, looking up. "Oh. Um...reading." He looked down at his book again, then added as an afterthought, "Do you like to read?"

Nellie tipped her head to one side and raised a paw curiously. "Er... no, I thought only humans did that?" Her nose went red in embarrassment.

Aristo wrinkled his nose. Only humans? Maybe that was why no one else read... "Well, cats read too," he insisted. "And it's great fun. This here book is quite amusing..." He looked down at it and read, "'He throws up a second skull.' Now, I didn't know humans liked to dig up skulls, did you?" This perhaps wasn't the best subject to discuss with a kitten, but Aristophanes was rather clueless when it came to kittens. "'Alas, poor Yurek! I knew him, Horatio!' How in Heaviside's name would they know who someone was by looking at his bones?!"

((Heehee...Awesome!))
Extwo had been wandering the junkyard, everyone else was preoccupied, busy, too busy to notice her. She didnt even think the others really cared, which was a good thing. Easier to look around, and gain intel without others poking their noses into her business. She still had her idiot exterior, she'd never risk putting that down. Hearing a voice, she went to investigate. She only got that last bit, and she 'Eeep!' ed. "There's Bones!!!?? Where?" Her eyes were wider than wide.

Aristophanes looked up, slightly annoyed. "In my book," he informed Extwo. "There's this man, and he's digging a grave, and there's bones coming out."

Kitanellie gave Extwo a puzzled look. She turned back to Aristo. "Why are humans digging up bones? I thought only Pollicles did that."

"I..." Aristophanes looked down at the book, then back up at the queens. "You know... I really don't know. Maybe if I could keep reading, I'd understand it," he said, trying to drop a hint.

"Oh, okay." Nellie settled herself down again, satisfied. She gave Extwo the occasional nervous glance. That queen made her feel awkward and out of place.

Extwo gave them both dumb stares. Stumbling she plopped herself down next to Kitanellie. "I..." She gave a pout to the girl kitten beside her,"I...don't understand."

"Neither do I," said Aristo, gritting his teeth, "because..." He looked down at the book again--and only just now realized that he wasn't at the beginning. Reddening, he flipped until he was at the beginning of the play. He looked up at the queens. "Are you just planning to sit there, or would you like me to read this to you?"

"Oh, yes, please!" Nellie curled her tail about herself, settling down for a good yarn. "I've never read a book before." She gave Extwo an uncertain smile.
