Rumpus moaned pitifully in his makeshift bed, the migraine that had been plaguing him since the early morning was just beginning to dissipate. The rays of sunlight that filtered into the small area had since vanished with the approaching evening. Rumpus knew the exact moment the sun had gone down, as it was the exact moment his migraine went away. He slinked out of the small hole he had sought refuge in to get away from the sun and let himself be comforted by the onset of darkness.
As soon as he was out in the open, he stretched out all of his limbs, his tail reaching towards the sky. He allowed the dark to caress him like a blanket, only realizing afterwards that the shadows had reached out and surrounded him. He had an affinity to manipulate the shadows and darkness around him, but he always manipulated them when he first stepped out in the night, every night. Rumpus assumed it was all the relief of being away from the damaging light; a mystical stretch.
His crimson eyes slanted into slits as he observed the empty street, he had emerged onto. He continued on his way, for once enjoying the solitude and being away from the centralized part of the city. Rumpus wasn't in the mood to socialize, but he knew he'd have to head back to Mack's warehouse, before the start of the new day. He'd been away for far too long and the ginger tom was probably wondering on his latest intel, and possibly concerned about his own welfare. Rumpus let his msyticism out, as he manipulated each shadow he passed as he got closer to the forest surrounding the city.

*The black and scarlet queen was resting peacefully in the shade of a tree after her latest "interrogation". She had gathered quite a bit of information on the Jellicles, Macavity was sure to be pleased.
Violet yawned, bearing her bloodstained fangs, and stretched her slender body. Her curled ears twisted this way and that, picking up the faintest footsteps. Her nose twitched and she smelled the familiar scent of another henchcat.*
((Fyi, in my post, I did mention that the sun had actually set, as Rumpus didn't get up until after the sun went down. And he is enjoying the dark evening. I will reply sometime tomorrow; getting a bit sleepy.))
The black and white tom continued his trek, and he made it into the tall grass and the surrounding forest. He had picked up the damp scent of living in an abandoned warehouse. And while a lot of strays lived in abandoned buildings, he was familiar enough with Macavity's warehouse and all the smells in it, to recognize a fellow Hench cat. He sometimes smelled of the warehouse himself, but he was more of Macavity's street contact. He tilted his head to the side and his claws slowly came out. Rumpus preferred to exercise caution. He could have slipped into shadow and discreetly discovered who else was out in the woods, but that would ruin all the fun.

Violet followed the familiar scent, her claws slowly protruding from her fingertips and a wicked grin appearing on her face. While she was not allowed to kill the other Henches, she certainly found fun in giving them a scare. She tread the ground lightly as the scent grew stronger, and when she saw who the hench was, she let out a low, menacing chuckle. "Well, well, well," she giggled, her wicked grin revealing her bloodstained razor sharp fangs, "if it isn't the almighty Rumpus Cat." Her claws slowly retracted.
"Don't worry. I won't kill you. That would be breaking my contract."
The voice was unmistakable, deep but feminine. Sultry with that undertone of danger. A perfect combination of beautiful and psychotic. "Violet." He pursed his lips in a half smile and his paw went up to his chest, as his claws retracted subtly. "Be still my heart." His voice was a bit flippant, as he regarded her. Though his face reflected light-heartedness and appeared relaxed. Rumpus was not foolish enough to proceed without caution. He survived his fair share of trials over many years, and he wasn't one to turn his back. Especially not on some of Macavity's more rowdy followers.
He raised an eyebrow at her as she advanced on him. Her scarlett fur was a nice contrast with her darkened black fur, and poetically matched her deadly prowess. Sadly, it wasn't the scarlett fur that Rumpus often found himself thinking about. "I'm so reassured." He spoke, dryly. Making it obvious he was being a sarcastic little shit, though to be fair, he had his own title and reputation to uphold.

The scarlet queen's grin widened at his sarcasm, and she approached him with her sultry walk. "Sarcasm, huh?" She whispered seductively into his ear, "Didn't know you had it in you." She inched a little close to him, but careful not to get too close. She wasn't dumb; she knew that Rumpus was also dangerous. However, it was fun to try and play with him.
Her tail brushed against him. "So what brings you to this forest?"
The tall black tom's crimson eyes followed her movement closely. Her body flowed with each step and his eyes dipped to the curve of her hips, before he smirked and looked away. "Suppose I'm just full of surprises." He allowed the small touch and the gesture, though he did flex his own power, enhancing the shadows around the woods to make their surroundings more daunting.
A display, showing he wouldn't be so easily manipulated or intimidated. A promise that he could drag her into darkness at the slightest whim. He assumed she'd enjoy the experience, however. He filed that thought away for later, curious to know, but not willing to test it out just yet. "Didn't think you'd appreciate anything other then pain, death and blood." When her tail touched his, his eyes narrowed into slits.
She was playing with him, or was this her bizarre way of flirting? He didn't hang out with Violet enough to even know if she flirted. Mostly he knew she was dangerous, psychotic and knew to treat her carefully. He spun around slowly, facing Violet, as a single finger pointed out and made a trace along her collar bone. "For the pleasure of your company of course." He resisted the eye roll, but the sarcasm was still leaking from his mouth.
Rumpus discreetly observed and watched for any changes, but it appeared Violet was in the mood to play, not fight. He couldn't predict her moods, as he had limited experience with the clinically insane. So he still kept an air of caution in his actions and reactions. Rumpus did smirk slightly at Violet's chuckle. "Clearly you're useful if you haven't been discarded by Macavity yet." Which was partially true. Though Macavity rarely discarded a resource. "So what are you doing out here?" He didn't expect an honest answer, but that was just fine with him. He was enjoying the pull and take they were engaged in.

"Why, I'm here for the pleasure of your company, of course," she said both seductively and sarcastically. The real reason she was meandering in the forest was to track down, retrieve information through any means necessary, and kill a cat that Macavity wanted dead. She had finished the job a short while ago. Violet licked her lips, her eyes never leaving Rumpus's.
The dark, lean tom kept his eyes on Violet. She was watching him with just as much of a keen eye, and it kept him on guard. He was fairly confident that even if he couldn't take her on, he could evade her with his mysticism. The shadows around him did curl around him, and licked at his ankles. A darkness seemed to impose behind Rumpus; his power reacting to his own emotions and thoughts automatically. "Somehow, I find that hard to believe." He couldn't say for sure if he liked her eyes trained on him with such focus, or not.

The growing shadows around Rumpus did not go unnoticed by the psychotic queen's eyes. A sadistic, malicious grin spread across her face as she realized that he was trying to threaten her by subtly using his mysticism. Knowing this gave her a charge.
Then, in an instant, her movements and posture changed, and she muttered to voices only she could hear. Her tail swished and her ears swiveled back and forth.
His keen eyesight followed the slow quirk upwards of her pouty lips, but almost just as fast as she was to grin at him and his actions her body posture changed. Rumpus watched in morbid curiosity as she glanced back behind her, reacting to seemingly nothing. She started muttering under her breath as though she were having a private conversation with someone, only no one was around, besides himself and the psycho queen (who was aptly nicknamed). It was a bit worrisome that she was conversing with invisible beings and Rumpus was prepared to disappear into the darkness and leave if she become dangerous or got too threatening. "Something interesting that'd you'd like to share?" He asked, mainly to try and gauge her reaction and see where her main focus was at.
