Name: Rytt [Pronounced "Rhett"]. (Ry is his most popular nickname, but he has many others including, Rytter, Ryttalia, Ryttatat..use your imagination)
Gender: Male
Age: Adult (49; soon to be reaching the big 5-0)
Tribe: Jellicle
Tribe Position: Member
Family: Parents-Deceased; [OPEN to others; just ask]
Sharai-Mate [Gone]; Colbalt-Son [Gone]
Appearance: Rytt is an extremely tall tom. Once he hit puberty, he skyrocketed. He is taller then his two closest friends, Old Deuteronomy and Gus, and looms over most of the younger generation as well. His height is the only thing going for him. He was never muscular, in fact he's downright scrawny, with long awkward limbs. He's got long facial features as well. He's nearly a solid Caramel mink Tonkinese tom. He has some chocolate and blonde markings in his mane and on the tips of his paws and tail. This indicates, but doesn't prove, that he's a mix and not a purebreed. Despite these unusual markings showing his mixed heritage, he finds he looks more distinguished and loves that these markings set him apart from other cats. He also has striking blue eyes that are well noticeable against his lighter fur color. Closest feline to how I picture him. (I will eventually get around to drawing him)

Human Appearance: Ryan Stiles
Personality: Rytt is a very humorous tom. He's a fun guy who loves to make others laugh. And will be the first to run over and cheer someone up. He can always be found smiling or laughing himself. Its widely accepted concept that he's the tom that never lets life get him down and is the one bright ray of sunlight when everything else has gotten dark. He always seems to strive to make any frowns he see's get turned into a smile. When he's not cracking some lame joke or bad pun, he can be found acting like a little kid, pranking unsuspecting jellicles. He gets a quite a thrill out of pranking others and as the years have gone on, he has aimed his pranks at the younger generation. As he doesn't want to give any of his older friends a heart attack, and he feels the younger generation will get more enjoyment and appreciate the prank more so then the older cats. His boisterous laughter and his many jokes have their own quirky charm to them and Rytt still enjoys the attention it gives him. However, his humor helps keep everyone at a distance (Read faults for more).
Rytt is and has always been a loyal friend. Once he's made friends with someone, you're pretty much stuck with Rytt for life. It doesn't matter what you do in life, the mistakes you make or the faults you have. He will remain by your side and support you through whatever you're going through or whatever issue's you have. It has never (at least on the surface) bothered him if he was the one who would get hurt. If a friend hurt him physically or emotionally, Rytt would still be a true friend and would not be deterred from the friendship. His loyalty stemmed into his love life as well. When it became apparent to him that he was gay and was in love with Colsyn (and not his mate, Sharai), it was his loyalty that kept him mated to her. He did love her (though not in the same way), and his loyalty to her and their son is what kept him from leaving her to pursue true happiness in the arms of Colsyn. Unfortunately, his loyalty is also what damned him. As he was loyal to Colsyn as well. Colsyn was his best friend and his loyalty to him and his feelings for the tom couldn't keep him apart from Col. This eventually led to the end of his mating with Sharai, as well as the heartbreak with Col.
Rytt is also a flamboyant tom. Ever since he first broke into the theatre (where he first met Gus), he's also been a showy tom. In truth, he's been one to make dramatic gestures and big movements even before the breaking into the theatre. However, spying on the actors in the show, did inspire his showiness, to be bigger and bolder. He will sometimes wear accessories to further his dramatics, but he mostly just skips around with bold movements. He can also come across as flirtatious (to toms and queens alike) while he's going around, but to Rytt it is simply harmless fun. Rytt will of course feel bad if he leads some tom or queen on and will let them down gently, or if someone gets the wrong impression of him, he'll clear it up. Though he wouldn't feel embarrassed if someone misunderstood his behavior. He's comfortable with his appearance and his actions and embarrassment just never pops into the picture. Besides, anyone who really knows him, which sadly isn't many, would know that Rytt would never cheat on Colsyn. Even if Rytt found out for sure that Colsyn had died, he'd still remain true to Col, and would never even have a casual date with another tom.
Faults: His humor while seen by everyone (even Deuteronomy and Gus) to be best quality, is just as much of a fault. His friends thought when Rytt started smiling again and joking around that it was a good sign of his recovery from being split from his family, and from Colsyn. However, Rytt uses humor to keep everyone at a distance. No one has ever been closer to him then Colsyn, and Rytt doesn't want anyone that close again. Rytt uses his humor as a shield, to keep others from getting too close or knowing how he's really doing or how he's really handling things. But everyone assumes he's doing great as he always looks so happy and will have a joke handy. The most he's ever done to show he is upset or stressed is when he'll make sarcastic jokes, but even then everyone assumes he's just on the moody side or that he didn't get enough sleep the night before. And honestly, Rytt is fine with keeping others at arms length and okay with no one knowing just how distraught he is under his smiles.
Not only is he distraught, but Rytt can be described as completely broken. Though his mate leaving Rytt and denying him the right to ever see his son again devastated him, it was the disappearance of Colsyn that completely destroyed him. Rytt never believed that Colsyn would leave him of his own will, and deep down believes something happened to Colsyn or that Colsyn died. Which is what did break Rytt completely. Despite the best parts of Rytt dying the night Colsyn disappeared, he eventually learned how to be "himself" again. (If such a thing even existed) Though he appeared to be himself again on the surface (all smiles and fun), the light in his eyes had faded just a little bit, he didn't have as much energy in his actions as he use to (which most assume is because he's getting older), and his heard just wasn't into his jokes as much as they use to be.
Implied and briefly mentioned, but it's fair to say that Rytt is emotionally distant. Which is why he uses laughs, jokes and pranks to keep others away. He has been emotionally distant and detached for so long that he has pretty much been cut off from any deep emotions. He still feels all the normal ones, but he's protected himself from feeling anything deeper or more meaningful. The only time he isn't cut off from his deeper emotions, is when he is plagued and haunted by his memories of Colsyn. Ironically, Colsyn was such a big part of Rytt's life and was in his life for so long, that Rytt ceased to be 'Rytt' a long time ago. Colsyn's presence in his life changed Rytt, and changed him for the better. They were so a part of each other, that Rytt become a new tom with Col. And when Colsyn disappeared, Rytt lost the best part of himself. It's not even so much that he protects himself from feeling deeper emotions, Rytt is pretty sure he's not even capable of feeling deep emotions with Colsyn removed from his life. He won't show his haunted and emotionally crippled side, and if one is looking for a deep or meaningful conversation; they won't find it with Rytt.
Describing word: (Phrase) Anything for a Laugh
History: Rytt was the last born out of a litter of six. His parents were kind and good souls, but having six kittens to take care of had overwhelmed them. So there were bound to be things that slipped through the cracks and Rytt was one of them. Rytt had a typical childhood, nothing too dramatic. But being the youngest of si, his parents often forgot about him. By the time it was his turn to get fed, most of the food was already gone. It was hard for Rytt's parents to give all of their kittens equal attention and so Rytt was always the last and got half-assed hugs and the attention of two exhausted parents at their wits end. So Rytt often looked for attention elsewhere and began looking for it in the streets and in the neighbors yards. He was so desperate for attention that he started making a fool out of himself which got other cats he was around to laugh. They thought he was funny, and he started telling jokes on top of his physical comedy.
He was 12, when his path first crossed with Colsyn. Colsyn was known as a troublemaker in the neighborhood, and while Rytt had heard of Col's reputation, he had never met him until that point in time. Rytt was entertaining some of his friends with jokes when Colsyn implemented one of his pranks. Needless to say, the entire group, Rytt included had gotten soaked. Everyone was outraged and going after a laughing Colsyn when another joined in the laughter. Rytt had found it hilarious and shook off much of the water onto Colsyn, getting him wet as well. The group left the laughing pair to themselves while they left to find warmth (and something to dry off with). Col and Rytt became fast friends after that and Rytt would join Col in his pranks. They were pretty much attached at the hip from then on. They continued to do everything together, and when most toms their age were noticing queens for the first time and going off on awkward dates, he and Col were enjoying themselves and dating/queens/etc never even entered their minds.
When they turned 18, they came up with this idea to sneak into a closed theater. Upon seeing a bunch of young cats acting, they decided to mess with them. They messed with wigs and spiked the refreshments, and got a laugh out of the young cats having to improvise their acting when unsuspecting things popped up. They were messing around with the prop bin, when the 'so called' director found the hooligans and kicked them out of the building. It wasn't a total loss, as Gus had witnessed the two toms antics. He had found the pair amusing and befriended them. He also introduced them to Deuteronomy and the four toms kept in contact and became friends. And although Rytt and Colsyn were always with one another, they'd find time to hang out with and be there for Gus or Deuteronomy when they needed it. In fact, only a month after meeting Gus and Dueteronomy, Gus ends up setting Rytt up on a date with an exotic beauty named Sharai. (He was unaware of Colsyn's growing feelings for Rytt at the time) But Rytt and Sharai have a good time and he makes plans for another date later.
He relies heavily on Colsyn while he's courting Sharai, unaware of Col's feelings for him as well. But he spends more time with Col then Sharai (a point of contention with Sharai), and their friendship is still going strong. He does attempt to set Col up on dates with other queens, not wanting his friend to be alone, but every time Col declines. Something Rytt doesn't understand but accept. He and Sharai eventually make their mating official and a couple years later, when Rytt is 22, they are expecting their first kitten, a son. Rytt wants to name their son Colbalt, after his best friend, however Sharai is not impressed and the two get into a fight. Rytt tells Colsyn about becoming a father and that he's going to have a son. Colsyn takes Rytt to the bar to celebrate, but its only when Rytt is drunk that he confides in Colsyn that he and Sharai are fighting. One of the biggest issues is Sharai is jealous of all the time he spends away from her (with Col). Col hates to see Ry upset and gives into his desires by kissing him. ry doesn't even hesitate and kisses him back. Unfortunately by morning, he's forgotten most of the night and can't remember that he and Col had kissed.
With the birth of his son, Rytt ends up spending most of his time being with Sharai, taking care of Colbalt and wondering if he's ever going to get sleep again. It's two months after the birth of Colbalt, that he realizes that he hasn't seen much of Colsyn lately. He decides to take Colsyn out to a club, get some beers and make it up to his friend. The night starts off great, as they catch up and reconnect. However, when Col leaves their table to flirt with tom, Rytt finds himself getting really jealous. He can't stand it when Col puts his paw on him, and when the tom reciprocates by pulling Col closer. One minute, Rytt was sitting there stewing, and the next he was punching the tom's face. Rytt was not a fighter, and it showed when the other tom retaliated and began beating Rytt, even after Rytt had put his paws up in surrender. The only thing that stopped him was Col. He had come to Rytt rescue by punching the tom and putting him in his place. Col had taken Rytt away to tend to his wounds. Rytt can't help but to lean into Colsyn and kiss him. This leads to a long and loving night of intimacy between the two. But ultimately, Rytt knows he has to go back to Sharai; he loves her and he loves Colbalt as well.
He and Colsyn go back to being just friends, they spend more time together, Col helps babysit, and the two start pulling pranks on Sharai (much to her delight and frustration) Only, at the end of the day they can't seem to keep their paws off of each other. So they start a secret affair that goes on for about three years. Though one night, before Rytt leaves Col to go back to Sharai, Col pleads with him not too. After a fight, Col finally gives Rytt an ultimatum; him [Col] or Sharai. Rytt tells him it's no choice at all and runs to Col. They begin to make passionate love to each other. (But things were going too well) Sharai, who had been looking for Rytt, finally finds him and interrupts them in the middle of it. She reacts how one would expect her to react, and in bout of despair, rage and jealousy, she hits Col; who promptly gets off of Rytt. Rytt stands up to protect Col, and gets hit quite a few times by Sharai. He kisses Col and tells him to get out of there. After Col leaves, Sharai starts hitting Rytt in anger, hatred, and sadness. To the point that Rytt's own self defense mechanism kicks in and he smacks her after a particularly hard blow to his head. He immediately regrets it, and Sharai uses this incident, and their son Colbalt to blackmail Rytt into staying with her. (She was not going to be the laugh of the town) Despite the blackmail, Rytt and Colsyn continue to see each other in secret, and are more discreet and careful. This goes on for another four years.
When Rytt goes to meet Col one night, Sharai(fed up with his night disappearances-to which she believes he goes off to be with Col) warns him that if he leaves, he'll never see her or their son again. Rytt almost stays for Colbalt, but in the end being with Colsyn is the only time he's ever been truly happy and finally leaves Sharai. However, Col isn't at their predetermined meeting place. Rytt spends most of the night searching for Col, but after no luck, he finally returns home to get some sleep, before restarting the search. When he gets home, he discovers Sharai and Colbalt are also gone. A few days after, Rytt still can't Col anywhere and becomes depressed. Having heard rumors of Sharai leaving Rytt and taking Colbalt with her, Deuteronomy goes in search of Rytt. After Rytt had been there for Deut after the loss of his first mate, Deut wanted to return the favor. Once he finds Rytt and gets him to talk, all Rytt can talk about is Col. Deut doesn't understand, until Rytt tells him that he's gay, he's been in a relationship with Col for years and that Col's disappeared.
Rytt does learn how to be "himself" again around others; after a few weeks, which gets Deut and Gus to stop worrying about him. But Rytt knows Colsyn would never leave him of his own volition, not without saying something. So he suspects the worst, that Colsyn died that night, the night where all three of the cats Rytt loved most left him. Rytt knows nothing is the same after that, though can't seem to leave all the places that meant something to him and Col. Once he hit 42, Rytt finally stopped searching for Col and admitted to himself, though never aloud, that Colsyn was dead. He permanently moved into the junkyard to spend more time with Deut and Gus. Where he jokes with and amuses the kittens. And Rytt still lives in the yard to this day. Though he hasn't gone to or participated in any of the Jellicle Balls; as he had once promised Col that they'd go to one of Deuteronomy's Bashes, together without hiding. They never did get to go to a Ball together, and Rytt won't go to one without Col.
RP Sample: The caramel tom gazed lovingly down at the top of his partners head. Colsyn laid beside him, sleeping contently. He laid comfortingly on Rytt's chest, with one of his arms wound tightly around Rytt's waist. He was too happy to wake Col up, and took the time to watch his lover sleep. It was a moment he wanted to burn into his memory and he knew he'd be able to remember it for a long time. Soon though, Col must have realized that Rytt was awake and he began to stir from his sleep. Col tilted his head up and it nearly took Rytt's breath away at how beautiful this tom was and how he had missed it for so long. Caressing the side of his lover's face, Rytt asked the one question that had been dying to come out all night. "How Col...how have I missed this between us for so long?" The soft kiss was for reassurance and Rytt was ever thankful for it, but when Col pulled away from him talking, Rytt heard no words from his mouth. He saw Col's mouth moving, but Rytt still heard nothing.
He awoke with a start, disturbed by his dream of Colsyn. Rytt gazed around the inside of his junkyard den, still not use to it even after living there for years. Stunned, he finally had to face reality; he knew it was bound to happen sooner or later. He could no longer remember Col's voice. Rytt dabbed at his eyes, expecting there to be tears there over such a revelation, but his tears stopped a while ago. The caramel Tonkinese got out of bed, and started grooming his fur. It was no use staying in bed all day, and Rytt began to prepare himself for the day ahead. He wasn't feeling like putting his whole self into it, not after his dream of Colsyn, but he still let a smile stretch out onto his face and left his den to find something to do or find someone to talk to.
Comments: Colsyn(...yep, I'm so original; Rytt & Colsyn)...Colysn is Rytt's lifelong friend and lover. (If anyone wants to RP him, just let me know. I'm willing to change Rytt's history and tweak him a bit for anyone wanting to try playing Col.) THEY'RE SO CUTE...
