Name: Tantallis, but is mostly referred to as Tallis
Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult (Around 25)
Tribe: HenchCat
Tribe Position: Member
Family: Griddlebone-Mother (Doesn't Know); (Half)Siblings (Doesn't Know); Adopted Parents-Deceased;
Garnet-Mate (Deceased); Kittens (Presumed Deceased)
Appearance: Tantallis has a slender build. He's very long and tall. Perhaps one of the tallest toms of his tribe, but his height doesn't negate that most of his athletic build is that of a dancer. Long, fine, and modest. But what he can say and what he is proud of, is that his legs are muscular. They are the strongest thing on his body and one of the few things going for him. He's got a long face, that is proportionate to the rest of his anatomy. However a lot of his slender/modest build is covered up by his fluffier fur. Tallis is a mostly all white Persian-Mix tom. He has smokey silver tabby marking on his paws, tail, and across his face. Has gorgeous sky blue eyes that tend to darken to a royal blue in certain lighting.
Human Appearance: Arthur Darvill [x] [x]
Personality: Isolation and tragedy make up for Tallis' "Bubble" personality. He shrouds himself in mystery, misdirection, and lies in order to keep others at arms length. He's spent a good portion of his life, on his own, or being miserable, that he decided to change it up. He no longer feels miserable, getting his kicks from being an unsolvable puzzle to all those around him, but he hasn't really been able to get passed the loner life. In part, because of his outward personality, and also in part because he's just so use to being antisocial, that barring the rare instances, he can't stop being antisocial.
Despite this bubble of a personality keeping others as far away from him as possible, he does have some redeeming qualities. Tallis is a very persistent individual. It is rare that he will find someone worth pursuing, considering what happened in the past between himself and Garnet. However, through Garnet, he has shown an odd penchant for tenacity. Garnet was a queen who didn't like him, not at first. Through his constant attempts at courting her, and engaging her in conversations, she eventually got hooked on Tallis' charms and they ended up together. This is a trait, that though hidden, he still has. If he does find a queen he is interested in, the persistent courting ritual will commence. However, after Garnet, his interest in romance have lagged far behind. His persistence presently comes out in much smaller ways, but it's still there.
Tantallis does have a more creative side. This is most commonly seen from the extravagant stories that he'll weave. Stories that are reportedly false, or true to an extent but have been expanded on with creative exaggerations. His brain is constantly working as he imagines and invents new tales, to either shed off suspicion surrounding him, or to entertain the group of cats he finds himself around during that night. This trait is not considered a positive trait, mainly because of how he uses his vivid imagination. But he has the potential to use his creative side more productively if he ever wanted to. Though in a way, Tantallis' creative stories and lies are used to test who can actually see through his bullshit facade.
Tantallis is more then a ball of puzzle's, and anyone who is smart enough to know this earns his respect, if nothing else. However, anyone who not only knows there's more to Tallis then a package of riddles, and is able to burrow past them, are rare finds. Tallis' has an unusual code, but anyone who penetrates his defensive walls, Tallis will become oddly protective of them. They're rare finds, and managed to get past his defenses, so of course he'd end up bonding with them, sincerely. (Not just for kicks) He'll consider them to be friends, and will go to great lengths to protect them. Sadly, no one has managed to get through his defenses, yet.
Faults: Tallis has an array of faults. He is standoffish. Because of his personality and the way he presents himself, half of which is that he's 'superior' and a 'know-it-all', he keeps a lot of others at bay. He has a haughty personality, so much so that others are wary of even approaching him or starting up a conversation with him. Which might even be part of the way Tantallis likes it. For it's unknown if Tantallis is just naturally antisocial now, or if he's too use to it and makes the effort to keep it that way. As stated before, Tallis can act superior to everyone, but it's unclear if this is how he really feels about himself, or if it's an unintended side effect of his cryptic/riddling personality.
But also due to his intentions of keeping up with his puzzling and mysterious self, he can come across as knowing everything or what is good for everyone. And thus his haughty 'know everything' attitude comes into the picture. Another fault is that he is confusing. Sometimes, his responses are confusing. And sometimes they may not even have any meaning or relevance to the situation or topic of conversation. (Though sometimes they do) And because of this, he has left a lot of cats behind scratching their heads, cats backing away from him in confusion, or getting upset for getting so easily flustered and puzzled.
He has gotten into a lot of trouble due to his cryptic-ness. And not just because he has easily confused and angered others because of it. There have been times where those he had said something cryptically to, that took it's meaning as something that it wasn't. And interpreting his cryptic warnings or riddles wrong led to trouble for them. Instead of owning up to their own lives and their own mistakes, they'd lay blame on Tallis. So, trouble and Tantallis are intimate pals, and chances are if you end up getting close to Tallis or associate with him, it won't be long before you learn that trouble is contagious.
And if you think his entire existence revolves around cryptic riddles, and puzzles, then you'd be disappointed. Constantly answering questions with a question of his own, or with a riddle can get tiresome. Even delivering a few cryptic words can get hard to constantly think up. Tallis IS capable of having a normal conversation. His fault with this? Isn't it obvious? Tallis is a liar. But come on, did that really come as any big surprise?
Sometimes coming up with answers and stories, all of which are bogus, is sometimes easier to come up with, and well Tallis does like to switch it up. Especially during those times that he has the urge to socialize with others. When isolation takes its toll. However, if he is engaging in a conversation that doesn't have double meaning underneath it, then Tallis either wants something, or wants answers of his own, or everything out of his mouth is complete bull.
Describing word: Enigma
History: Born to Griddlebone and an unknown tom(in a city in France), Tantallis was immediately given up and abandoned by his mother. He had never even laid eyes on her before he was abandoned. Thankfully, he was picked up by a catnip addict queen living on the streets. She had recently given birth to a still-born and was eager to take in a mewling kitten to cover up the pain and shame she felt when her own kitten had been born. Deep down knowing her constant chemical intake, as well as alcohol was responsible for her babies silence. So she took Tantallis and raised him as her own. It wasn't long before she got back with her sleazy Ex (The tom that had gotten her pregnant before) and they both took on the roles of mother and father to Tantallis.
They were the ones who named him, and also were the ones who told him that they were his 'True' parents. Granted they were high or drunk most of the time, so they may have even believed it. Home life wasn't great, but it wasn't unbearable either. His father was good to Tallis, and taught him quite a lot of good things, though a lot of bad things as well. And his mother spoiled him, when she wasn't incapacitated by her own vices. Point is, when both of his parents were sober and clean, they're the best parents Tallis could have hoped for. And at first they had tried to clean up their life to give Tantallis a good one. But they soon fell back on their habits, every single time they tried to quit.
It was when they were high, drunk, or both when things go intolerable. His parents tended to keep their distance from him, when they got that way, but not each other. Tantallis can remember so many fights that the two of them would get into, that tended to lead to physical fights. It wouldn't be fair to say his father abused his mother, as his mother gave as good as she got. The two were bad enough alone when they had taken something or drank too much, but together it was a catastrophe. Once Tallis was of an older age, and always upset with his parents outrageous battles and a few scary moments when one or the other almost took too much and nearly died hours later, he began to interfere. Getting rid of the nip, and hiding the alcohol. He dealt with his father screaming at him and almost crossing the line between anger and abuse. And his mother having withdrawals and laying the guilt on Tallis heavily.
Eventually, Tallis gave back in and gave them back their vices. His mother ended up O.Ding not a month later. His father finally quit cold turkey, her death affecting him completely and wanted to do good for his son. However, his depression over her death and his co-dependence on Tallis after he got clean began to stress Tallis out and wear him down. Tallis just couldn't take it anymore and left home. This was a major turning point in his life as well as his fathers. He didn't have any negative feelings against his father, but the stress had almost made him turn to alcohol or drugs. He learned a few weeks later that his father was dead. Tallis never knew if he had taken his own life, went back to one or both of his vices and O.Ded like his mother, or if it had been something else.
Tallis couldn't shake the guilt that his father would still be alive if he had stayed with him and preferred to be alone. He had left his father to start his own life and get away from the stressful environment around the age of sixteen. And he was alone for a while feeling it fitting punishment for his failure as a son. The next big incident that happened to Tallis on the streets-that had ended his reign of loner, is when Garnet stumbled into his life. And meeting Garnet, and choosing to begin socializing again, is something he never once regretted. Garnet was a headstrong queen, and the first queen to show signs of having feelings for Tantallis. There were other queens that Tallis had looked at, but none really caught his interest quite like Garnet did. She was one of those queens who knew what she wanted in life, including toms, and wouldn't settle for less no matter how much or how hard one tried to win her over.
So Tallis started his long suffering months of courting the buxom Garnet. They were frustrating months, but Tallis wouldn't have traded them for anything. Eventually, Garnet caved to Tallis' wooing technique's and they consummated their relationship and became official mates. The two were very close, and very happy. They remained happily mated for three years. Tallis was 20 before some ruffians came into town and started singling Garnet out. He didn't know they were part of a gang, but he did peg them as troublemakers, with an eye for his mate. It made him uncomfortable, and weeks later Garnet was scared witless and nearly hysterical over their stalking. Afraid they were going to kill her. Tallis was definitely worried that they'd try to have their way with her, or at the very least hurt her if they ever got a hold of her. So he had made a quick exit to get more supplies in order to better protect Garnet and put her mind at ease.
While he was gone, those three toms had made their move and crashed into Tallis & Garnet's den. Tallis wasn't gone for long, so he caught them in the middle of them kidnapping her. Being that Tallis wasn't a strong individual and not a skilled fighter, he was no match for all three of the toms. They easily overpowered him and left him unconscious, while they took Garnet away. Tantallis had come to later on in the night and immediately went off to track his Garnet down. The trail eventually lead him into the nearby woods. Their was only one tom with Garnet when he came on the scene and the tom was distracted. Tallis was able to surprise him, and attacked him from behind. It wasn't anything impressive, but he was able to knock him unconscious.
He got to Garnet, though she was slightly groggy and eventually passed out in his arms. He took the time he had to tend to Garnet and flee the city. He only made it a few towns away, but he surmised that it had been far enough. The morning two days after the attack, when George fully awoke he learned Garnet was gone. His first reaction was to panic. Believing the toms had once again returned and recaptured Garnet. However, he finally realized that none of them would have traveled that far for just one queen. He figured she was ashamed or something and left of her own accord. Though, this was only speculation. He spent the next few weeks searching for Garnet or at least any mentions of a cat by that description, but his search, week after week kept turning up empty with no leads.
He started to slip back into his loner ways, feeling that it was risky to get too close to anyone again. Tallis didn't stop socializing, but he got a rise out of being as abstrusely as possible. It started off small, but eventually he couldn't stop being cryptic. It was the only way he had of distancing himself from others and he still got his fun. Toms thought of him as a puzzle that was impossible to figure out, but the allure didn't stop them from trying, and his mysterious air kept all the queens around and they would hang on his every word; no matter how enigmatic it was, or even if they were lies. He spent three years of his life this way, too long to rely on any other traits he had to offer. But when he turned 23, he ran into Garnet once more.
It was a awkward meeting, and Garnet had confessed that she hadn't felt safe with Tantallis, after what happened. That and she needed to keep her babies safe. At the mention of having kittens, several bridges between the ex-mates were repaired, while the other issues were put off for another day. They had a few months of reconnecting, and life between them almost picked up where it had left off several years prior, before the attack. The two ended up considering themselves mates once more, and Tantallis felt that happy in a long time. Garnet was even taken with the new style, personality traits and quirks that Tallis had picked up. But their little slice of heaven wasn't meant to last.
Garnet and Tantallis' kittens had been rounded up and taken away to a local animal rescue, by humans who thought they knew everything about everything. Tragedy struck when in a attempt to get her babies back, Garnet ran after the humans until they got into a car and drove off. Garnet still tried to track their movements, with Tantallis close behind. Garnet unfortunately got hit by a car in her pursuit, and perished. Tantallis lost the trail, by trying to save Garnet. She had been instantly killed, and Tantallis still harbors guilt over her death, believing he could have saved her somehow, or that it should have been him under that car, not her. His guilt had him roaming around the town for months trying to find his kittens, and had even broken into a few shelters looking for them. Though, Tantallis knew he couldn't stay there forever, and once he gave up hope of his kittens even being alive, he moved on. Currently, his travels have led him to London, England.
(He hasn't run into either group yet, as I'm hoping I can RP him joining the Henches...maybe?)

Tantallis walked along the path as though he was floating on air. His movements and steps were so quiet that he could only be heard if someone was actually listening for someone creeping in the dark. Tantallis was use to the night and let it surround him, a fitting metaphor in how he surrounded his life and himself in a bubble of mystery. He wasn't invisible, his white fur was a stark contrast to the darkness around him.
And the moonlight was more of a dead give away, lighting up his fluffy white fur like a beacon. Just another added contradiction to the rest of his personality. It was one of the reasons why he preferred the night. It boosted the reflection of his entire self, and he enjoyed the added layer and the irony. He glided about the street until he saw a tom around his age up ahead. He was able to get two feet away from him before Tantallis allowed his presence to be known.
He grinned mostly to himself, when the tom's fur had sponged out, he whipped around to face Tantallis, and asked him why he got off on scaring the living daylights out of him. "Dear Bastion." Tantallis purred out,"Why must you always give me reason to?" Sebastion couldn't admit that the white tom's question had reassured him or even answered his question. In fact, it had made him frown deeply and he stuttered out a reply.
"Wh-what do you mean by that?" Tantallis gazed at him, his blue eyes bore into the younger tom. Sebastion was the first tom he had had contact with upon reaching the city of London. Three weeks, and the tom still didn't get it, and still got scared even after three weeks of Tallis sneaking up on him at the same time, every night.
He lifted one shoulder up, in a half-shrug, leaving Sebastion to wonder if he couldn't make up his mind of how to answer him. "Meaning is irrelevant..." Tallis was thinking of giving him the same cryptic answer he had all week, but instead gave him as definitive of an answer that Bastion would likely ever get from Tallis. "You'll not understand."
Comments: Tantallis did have kittens with Garnet, but he is presuming that they died in the animal shelter they were taken to. They may or may not be dead. But considering they'd be around 4-6, I doubt anyone is going to want to RP any of them. And with so much tragedy in his life already, I didn't want to add more to it.
