It had been months, she didn't know how long exactly, since Ashmira had seen this part of London. Following her encounter with Admetus, she had left the Henchcat's quarters for several months in order to think, to figure out what she was going to do, and what her next moves were going to be in regards to finding her parents and getting closer to Macavity. Initially, she had intended to only take a few weeks away, hide out further away from the city, enjoy herself with a few toms and bring back some valuable items to give to Macavity to make up for her time away. But she had become distracted by a tom named Percy who had claimed to know where her father was and who had taken her in while they planned and discussed when and how they would approach him. A little while later, she found that her father hadn't been in that area for several years, had taken her mother out of London with him and would be very difficult to track down. Feeling betrayed by Percy who had clearly lied to her, and irate at losing track of her father once again, she attempted to leave his shelter in the basement of a hardware store and return to the Henchcats, resulting in a struggle with him (he was much larger than her), that left her with many injuries, including some deep gashes, bad bruising and some broken ribs. Unable to defend herself anymore, Ashmira remained locked in that basement for several weeks at the mercy of the large tom who delighted in having his stunningly rugged queen stowed away from the outside world. As soon as she was well enough, however, she found a nail in the corner of the dark, cold basement, laid in wait for Percy to return from his hunt, and took him by surprise, neatly slitting his throat. She then left the hardware store, now with a few new scars, and headed back towards Macavity's warehouse.
She had been back for a few days now, and was wandering aimlessly in a field, having not yet received a new mission from headquarters. She didn't know whether she would be receiving one-she had notified a superior of her return, but had not yet given any explanation for her months of absence. She had brought back several valuable jewels she had stolen from a rich human's house in the hopes this may somewhat redeem her, but was not expecting to get off without any punishment. Breathing in the fresh air and sighing, Ashmira laid down in the grass and looked up at the night sky; the stars were barely visible due to the lights of the city. She thought about the last few months, and wondered if she'd get another chance to find her parents. She had unfinished business with her father she wanted to address, and wasn't ready to accept that he had won and escaped without any form of retribution. Her tail stretched out beside her and she flicked it mindlessly in the grass next to her, thinking about her time in that basement. She hadn't felt that weak and useless since she was a kitten; she hadn't been defeated in a fight in years, and had never thought she would end up hurt and helpless and completely at the mercy of another cat. It disgusted her, and she certainly had no plans to ever reveal what had happened. She could take whatever punishment the Henchcats decided was appropriate.
Ashmira closed her eyes for a moment, breathing deeply, her tail still swishing side to side in the grass. She didn't need to be back at the warehouse until morning-she had time to lay here for a while.
