I left a mess along the street that the humans will be sure to blame on them and Fangorn got all the way in and scent marked that big old tire of theirs! and Boss other than an old duffer who dens by the gate no one challenged us at all! and by the time the duffer did Fangorn was in, so's I let em run me off like a stray and Mr F slipped out slick as could be!" Manfredd reported.

Rumpus had been tempted to grab the dreads and have his face buried in them again, but he hadn't wanted to break the spell that had befallen them. He had sighed softly against the ginger toms neck at his words. Allowing his breath to tickle at the top of the toms spine. That is until he had felt every inch of Macavity tense under his touch. He had picked up on the noise of another creeping up, just as his paws fell away from Macavity's back. After Macavity stood up, Rumpus followed suit and moved to be somewhat behind Macavity, though slightly to the side of him as well.
With his back turned on Macavity and the one that had interrupted them, he allowed himself to frown. To sulk briefly. Hearing Manfred's voice, his ears did twitch and then went down in annoyance. Shaking his head, and with an expression of neutrality, he turned to face Manfred. "Hey Manny." He looked at the older and taller tom with his good eye, with his normal tone of voice. He eyed Macavity discreetly, before his attention was back on Manfred. "Their defenses were most likely down, because all of them seemed to have been in the warehouse. Or out searching the city for the missing jellicles."
He did take a few steps, under the guise of thinking up some sort of idea. However, he had just wanted to give Macavity space, without it looking like he was putting distance between them. He wondered if Manfred would believe him, if he came up with a nonsexual reason why he was practically spooning Macavity, alone and far away from Hench Territory. However, bringing attention to that, was not where he wanted the focus. "If you did need to get in the Junkyard or needed to send someone else, that could work to our advantage, Macky..Macavity." He tried to cover by speaking the toms full name. "Though that's a lot of work to create such a large distraction, just to gain access to the yard."

That was bloody brilliant. Even without trying to find him, his Henches managed to accidentally locate him. Brilliant. As he let the information sink in, Macavity's tail twitched several times in agitation. He'd had actually been starting to fully relax, and now this interruption and information about a raid. While Mac gave little concern to the opinion of humans, the Jellicles had always given them more notice, after all about half of them had humans of their own. Even if they took little note of the human's opinion, having them clean up in front of the yard could cause frustration and inconveniences to the other tribe.
Minor things, but judging from the expression on Manfredd's face, apparently it was quite the accomplishment. A boost in moral was always beneficial to the Henches. And having a distinct Hench scent so inside the yard would be both upsetting and alarming to the Jellicles. Emotionally it was an advantage. And with Rumpus' reminder of the apparent missing queens from the other tribe, they'd be even more off. "There's been trouble enough getting into the Yard recently. A Hench scent in such a prominent spot with most definitely alarm and disrupt the Jellicles. Coupled with their emotional turmoil over their missing members and new found knowledge of their own now as Henches will severely negatively impact them for the near future. Especially with this being caused by such minimal effort on our part. Take the victory Manfredd."
As he spoke the ginger tom had been observing both cats, inspecting Manfredd for any deceit or suspicion and monitoring Rumpus' outward emotional response. No doubt the black tom was just as please with the interruption. However Macavity was working to move the conversation forward, garnering praise to Manfredd to both distract and affect his moral.

the massive tom nodded happily, "gee thanks Boss, scent marking was a way a test yourself back in the alleys. who knows if the humans are annoyed enough they might bring in their Animal Control and wouldn't that make a mess for the Yarders!" he said before ambling off into the darkness.

Rumpus was covering the side of his face that held the swollen eye from Manfred as he kept his distance from Mack and listened to his boss' words. Once Macavity had congratulated Manfred in his own way, Rumpus allowed his features to express his agreement to the ginger tom. "At the very least, it'll be interesting to ..." His voice trailed off as Manfred began to talk. He didn't know why he bothered. He was a decent tom, and a really loyal hench, but he only listened to Macavity. Rumpus' eyes tracked Manfred as he walked back into the darkness, and he turned his eyes onto Macavity, a bit confused. "Well...that was...quick. Do you suppose that could have waited a few hours until we returned to the warehouse?" He shrugged at any rate. It didn't really matter, as Manfred's sudden appearance had put quite a damper on the mood that was building between the two, and it was a nice little victory for the tom as well. "So..." Rumpus started but it delved into a nervous chuckle. He was at a loss for words. For once.
((Again, sorry its short Moon. Also, I'm assuming Manny exited?))

((I'm assuming that as well?))
It was a bit of a wonder to Macavity how the Hench had managed the streets, with so many malicious cats in contrast to Manfredd's disposition. Baffling. Nearly as baffling as to how a rather good natured tom have come to be as loyal to Mac as he knew Manfredd was. The ginger tom's eyes slid back to Rumpus as he spoke. With the other Hench gone, Macavity's posture once again relaxed although not to the same degree of relaxed as he had been before the interruption. With a sigh he raked a paw through his dreaded main and nodded, agreeing with his lover. "Petty annoyances as I said." Well at least it seemed a bit petty and quite the annoyance to Macavity. So many small things were brought to him so constantly that Macavity almost wanted a larger event to happen. Almost. Right now a bit of peace for his tribe could be beneficial. Or the Henches would just get restless. A balance was needed.
However his musing were brought to a halt as Rumpus' nervous chuckle and his eye immediately darted up to the black toms face. He then remembered that Rumpus had been covering part of his swollen face from Manfredd, so the ginger tom closed the distance between the two and once again began to examine the swelling, "Is it still bothersome?"

Rumpus gazed at Macavity, in a more relaxed posture then before, and a slow nearly sensual smile crossed his features. He knew Macavity hadn't told anyone about their present relationship, and he personally would only openly speak about it if his partner was alright with that. Rumpus assumed Macavity preferred his privacy, but he honestly didn't know how the ginger tom felt. Though Manfred most likely would not disclose their closeness to anyone. Still, Rumpus was determined not to have Manfred's appearance ruin what had been a nice moment for the lovers. He shook his head,"I'm fine Mack. I didn't..." Rumpus shrugged and let out a large sigh. "Suppose I'm not high up in the ranks for it to matter. But didn't want to show my injuries to Manny. Weakness, and all that." Rumpus chuckled slightly. "Stupid." He muttered about himself.
((Sorry it's short.))

Macavity was most definitely a private cat, seldom letting most into his inner monologue and working of his mind. That was of course if he let any in, it's been long since he'd even tried or had the desire to. Taking a moment to think back the ginger figured he hadn't exactly done such since he'd been a part of his father's tribe all those years ago. And by now it wasn't even much of a thought anymore. However coming back to the present topic, namely his dark lover, Mac raised a brow as Rumpus commented on not being high up in the ranks. Maybe not officially however he did know that is wasn't uncommon knowledge in the warehouse that often times Rumpus had his ear, a rather rare occurrence which generally spoke of his regard for a cat. The ginger Tom snorted lightly at his comment about showing weakness in front Henches. " I highly doubt any Hench in the warehouse believes to weak. Besides doesn't our damned old tribe have an entire song dedicated solely to you?" he quipped lightly knowing full well they did. Even with the added compliment of calling him "The Great". With the quip Mac's expression softened slightly as did his posture relax more.

The sleek black tom watched Macavity in silence. Still baffled by how he had wound up so close to the tom, before they ever become lovers. He had conflicting emotions on how they became lovers too. On the one paw, it confused him, but on the other he felt it was only natural to fall into bed together. He didn't know he was silently moving closer to Macavity, not until he found himself practically touching shoulders with Mack. He blinked, and before he could smile or comment on Mack's reassurance over the henches, he mentioned the song. That bloody song. Rumpus sighed,"Yeah, and its all bullshit!"
The tom suddenly felt like throwing something off into the distance. He frowned suddenly. Rumpus tended to deflect his own inner thoughts and emotions, his personal opinions on certain things, by talking a lot about nothing, or with humor. The Jellicle Tribe was one of those subjects he bottled his true views on. He still was in good standing, mutually with some of them, so kept his opinion to himself. Not willing to judge them individually for his view on the whole of the tribe. He shook his head, and tried changing the subject. "Seems Manny's interruption, spoiled ...our moment, huh?"

While Rumpus may not have been aware of his movements towards Macavity, the ginger Tom had been. Aware and selfishly pleased with it. Although with their little bubble of relaxation and calm thoroughly popped Macavity was back to his usual constant vigilance to his surroundings. A vigilance that rarely paused. Despite the recent episodes of him essentially throwing that awareness to the wind in favour of focusing on the black tom.
Now while the old tribe was usually an extremely sore spot for Macavity, he'd always been amused with the fact that they had dedicated an entire song to Rumpus. To a cat who was not a part of their tribe, and this was quite something since almost every other song of theirs was for a cat in the junkyard. His own nonwithstanding. Idiotic in his opinion of course. However Rumpus' voice brought him out of his musings and he sighed slightly and raked a paw through his dreaded main pushing it away from his face, " Apparently. Unfortunately it seems the tiresome petty demands of the tribe manage to follow even outside of the city.". His expression was rather clear in broadcasting Macavitys displeasure with his voiced thought.

Rumpus nodded his head in agreement. And no matter how much he tried, he doubted that the two of them would be able to regain that mood, and it was another wasted moment. He still felt the need to recapture that moment, but seeing how tense Macavity was again and noticing his eyes, Rumpus knew it was fruitless. "I'm sure there will be other moments, and better moods without any interruptions." His voice tried to reassure the ginger tom, as well as himself. Rumpus sighed softly, and finally allowed himself the tiniest of weakness. He leaned the remaining distance into Macavity and nuzzled his side. "Suppose we should head back to the warehouse then? For the petty issues...or did you have something else in mind?"

The fact that Macavity had been so relaxed before the interruption had been a surprise, he hadn't been so relaxed in quite a long time. And with the interruption and reminder of his tribe and the fact that his presence was continually needed within the warehouse meant that there was no chance of once again achieving such a calm content demeanour again so soon. The ginger tom still had so many responsibiltoes to his tribe that needed to be seen to and various concerns both present and future that needed to be addressed. No doubt the other tribe would once again attempt some sort of disastrous rescue attempt for the cats they believed he was catnapping. There was also the clashing of cats in his tribe and still his injured half sibling that had yet to return to the warehouse. Although no reports of his lifeless body had been brought to Mac so that boded well.
The ginger tom was brought out of his thoughts by Rumpus' words, and he nodded in agreement. Blasted interruptions. There was a reason he had a very sturdy lock on his office door. A thought that brought a vaguely wicked smirk to his face with the memory of the last time he'd locked his office, because normally it's cats knew to not enter his office without explicit permission. At being nuzzled, Mac's eyes widened in surprise, the affection rather forgein to the tom, even as he subconsciously and weakly returned the gesture for a very brief moment. He let out a frustrated growl, "Unfortunately it appears that even outside of the city I am demanded of. I believe that returning to the warehouse would be wise.". Not that he was pleased that his attempted reprieve was so short lived. Mac took a step towards returning to the warehouse and paused, glancing at Rumpus and raised a brow in question, wondering if the black Tom would be teturning with him or remaining in the field to enjoy the night and relax.

Rumpus had nearly stopped in his movements directly beside Macavity. He had felt his heart beat skip ever so slightly when Macavity had begun to return the gesture. It was a split second, before it was denied Rumpus. But in that split second Rumpus had found himself focused so intently on Macavity and how he would react to his brief nuzzle, that Rumpus couldn't ignore it. Himself. Oh he was definitely in it big time, and with his boss. He had spent enough time in the world to know this combination was most likely not going to end well.
Looking up at Macavity's raised eyebrow, Rumpus just knew. How could he not? If it wasn't love yet, then that was surely the path Rumpus was heading down with Mack, and he knew he wouldn't be able to deny Mack anything; ever. He nodded and walked up to Macavity. "Agreed Macky." Rumpus practically purred his nickname for his lover. "Let's go." Rumpus knew he wasn't going to head to their new healer when he got back. Quite content in Macavity's examination and opinion. However, he knew he'd give the ginger tom some space once they got back, unless otherwise commanded. But if her were honest with himself, he needed the space as well, to think.
