after seeing that the tribute from the strays living down near the border of the woods was put away, Manfredd lumbered out to the construction site. no one had bothered to tell him he couldn't so the massive tom had claimed a section of abandoned concrete T-pipe as a den. he stopped in a nearby clear area that he had set up and rolled his meaty shoulders in the setting sunlight, then he began to shadow box. he paused as heard someone approaching his evening workout.

It was growing dark, but Fangorn was too restless to think of resting just now. So he had opted for evening patrol - seeing as everyone else was occupied with...something, concerning Jellicles, that Fang was still not completely informed on. Not that that bothered him, not in the slightest. Coming round the construction sight, the lean, patched tom heard a slight sound. Crouching down, immediately on alert, he peered around from behind a piece of equipment to see who the intruder was... Finally realizing it was only Manfredd, he came out from his hiding place and made himself known to the other tom - much as he would have enjoyed watching (and laughing at) the tom's workout, from the looks of it Manfredd had already sensed his presence anyway. Moving to where Manfredd could see him, Fang gave a slight nod in greeting. "Manfredd."

the massive toms rounded ears perked up when he saw it was Fangorn, he was rather happy that it wasn't one of the more...disturbing Henches. Fang he could relate to, he reminded him of the toms in the back alley packs that he ran with before he was recruited for Macavitiy's Empire. "hi Mr F," he rumbled "you headed on patrol or looking for some fun? gonna be a big Moon tonight, Bad for one Good for the other." he offered simply. then Manfredd scratched behind his ear with one claw.

Fangorn's eyes glinted slightly. "Fun" - which he figured would be something along the lines of a contest of strength - sounded more interesting than his patrol, which was clearly overkill at the moment. Giving one last sweeping glance around, he shrugged. "Patrol's finished, all quiet on the western front. What sort of fun did you have in mind?" He kept his tone casual, wanting to keep up his professional appearance whether on or off duty.

the massive tom cocked his head, "Me? nothing really,I was just getting in a work out but you...you I was figuring was on the prowl to find yourself a classy dame." then he shrugged "the moon and all. you allways find the classy ones!" as toms talked the shadows continued to lengthen and a handful of streetlights came on.

Fang couldn't help smirking slightly at the other tom's words. He did have a way with the ladies, he couldn't help but acknowledge, though they were a bit of a bother at times; they had the distinct potential to become a distraction to him, when he needed to keep focused on tasks Macavity had given him. Not that Macavity had made many appearances to give out any tasks lately. "Unfortunately," Fangorn observed, an edge of frustration in his voice, "there don't seem to be any dames about - classy or otherwise."

the massive tom blinked, "well not here, only ones who come here are doing it to train an they usually don't come down this time of night. I'm pretty much the only one who spends nights here." he said. then a ponderous almost pained expression crpet over his broad face, "during the morning rounds I saw a pretty set of paws on a stray down Kensington Garden way. given the size of the place an all the flops there's a good chance she's still about. not likely to give Me the time of night but a slick fella like yourself she might." he added good naturedly after a long dificult bout of thinking.

Fangorn hadn't exactly come around here seeking pretty queens to talk to. But seeing as things were quiet and it was never dull talking to lovely dames, where was the harm in finding out more? Especially since Manfredd seemed so keen to offer information. "You don't say," Fang remarked, pretending to be only mildly interested. "This pretty set of paws have a name?"

the massive tom chuckled, "not that I remember but then I don't remember so good, any how stray or no I've got a good idea of when I'm out of my league!" he said then Manfredd spread out his paws, "besides I don't like them too small, if their too small a big fella like me could hurt 'em and that wouldn't do at all!" he continued with a shrug. "or I suppose since people have been saying that the Junkyarders have been sneaking around here we could slip in there and scent mark that big old tire of theirs that would make an impression!"

Fangorn's lip curled slightly in disdain. My, but this tom was thick-headed. And the careless manner in which he spoke about queens quite disgusted Fang, who always endeavoured to treat queens respectfully if possible. And how many kinds of an idiot would you have to be to think of just waltzing into the Junkyard simply to "make an impression"? ... And yet, Fang was considering it. Those Jellicles had been running all over the Henches' territory - that Gilbert character had had the gall to come right up to Fangorn without batting an eyelid! - why not do the same to the Jellicles? Not just for the fun of it, of course... "That's quite an idea," he said to Manfredd, "if there were anything useful to be gained for it. You know the leader would have our necks if we went and showed ourselves to the Jellicle filth just for the sake of a prank. What do you think? Any useful information that might be gained, perhaps?" He watched Manfredd keenly, wondering if this tom would prove himself cleverer than Fang had thought thus far.

Manfredd's broad head tilted to the left and blinked again as he thought, "information? about what? challenging territory markings wasn't a prank in the Alleys, it was a way of showing that you were faster, bolder an more clever than the other guy without gettin the outfits tore up to where the Policlle Packs would finish them both off! besides it took more guts getting in an out quiet like than it it did busting heads," he said. then he gave his massive shoulders a shrug. "but if you think that the Boss wouldn't want us to show 'em whats what that's Okay. it was just how we woulda passed some time."

Manfredd did make a good point, though Fang was not going to admit that to the tom openly. However, Fang was also sensible, and there was something to be said for not getting on the bad side of a tom like Manfredd. He may seem slow in the head, but who knew but what that might just be an act; more importantly, he was large and strong, and that could very well prove useful. In any case, Fangorn knew it would be stupid of him to get into an argument with Manfredd over something like this. And, supposing they carried out this "challenge" Manfredd was talking about, they could always do a bit of eavesdropping on the side. "Interesting notion," he replied in an agreeable tone. "I know the Leader would condone any action that might be useful against our enemies. Tell me, in your experience, was such challenging of territory markings effective? That is, did it cause your enemies more often to back down, or to rise to face your challenge? Or was it simply ignored?" No doubt he was taking more seriously what Manfredd merely intended as an interesting way to pass the time, but if they were going to go sneaking around into Jellicle territory, Fang wanted to be sure it was worthwhile. So he grilled Manfredd for all the ins and outs and details.

the massive tom gave a low rumbling chuckle, "THAT depended on the outfit, some of the smarter ones might look like they were ignoring the runs but they'd be lookin for patterns like, and if ya took the same path one to many times they'd jump you. but then you had the hot heads like the Gravesend Emeralds, they were a bunch of Paddy's like their humans and you know how Paddy's can be about their territory! well the smell of some other tom layin claim to what was theirs got them so ticked the whole lot of them came tearing into our spot howling for blood, but instead of us they found the bloody humans Animal Control!" he said then Manfredd gave a sigh and shook his head sadly, "but that was when Rory was doing the thinking, too bad he got hit by that lorry he would have done the Boss proud. now the ones who'd back down, well most often they're like the types who are paying tribute to the Boss, and it was a reminder of who was on top. at least until they recruited some muscle of their own. from what I've heard of these Junkyarders they seem to be a mix of sensible and hot head, the sensible types are gonna be cautious and try to scope whats what, but while they do, the hot heads are gonna build up a head of steam and run off on their own and then who knows? that takes a better noggin than mine."
