Name: Uhura
Gender: Queen
Age: Adult
Tribe: Henchcats
Tribe Position: N/A
Family: Father: Manfredd (unknown) Sister: Oracle (unknown) Brother: Tucker (unknown)
Appearance: She is rather thin but well-muscled from being accustomed to life on the streets. She is shorter in stature than average, and has somewhat of a "baby-face", which tend to make her appear younger than she actually is. Her fur is black all over apart from a few silver streaks here and there, and her eyes are blue.
Human Appearance: (Optional)
Personality:
Self-conscious: Uhura does not have a very impressive or intimidating appearance. She is painfully aware of this, and is constantly working to make up for her weakling, kittenish looks. When the chance or necessity arises, she's a decent enough fighter. However, she's sure everyone in the tribe thinks of her as useless, so she's always looking for ways to prove her worth.
Paranoid: Because of her appearance, Uhura is almost never at ease. She is always worried someone might attack her just for the fun of it. Even more, though, she worries that Macavity will one day decide she's not an asset to the tribe and run her off. And much as she dislikes having to fight her way through life, she hates the thought of being completely alone even more.
Stoic: Because of all her secret fears, she puts on a tough exterior to hide them from others. This tends to make her seem cruel and unfeeling. It works well for life among the Henchcats, though it also means she's generally unable to participate even in whatever "fun" or friendly bantering does occasionally arise within the tribe.
Faults:
Her Fearfulness/Paranoia: Obviously these are problematic traits for a Hench. The lifestyle requires that one be tough and look out for oneself or else be eaten up by the others. Although Uhura generally does a good job maintaining her tough exterior, she has occasional slip-ups that cause others to look down on her.
Her Attitude: The defenses she puts up so as not to seem weak, often tend to alienate her from those around her. So she's not the greatest at working together with anyone, which can be a problem when things need to get done.
Describing word: Bitter
History: Uhura's beginnings were promising enough. She was born on a farm, to a mother who was kind enough, though usually either too busy or too tired to pay much attention to her kits beyond the barest necessities of keeping them alive. Still, there was plenty of fun and entertainment to be had for a young cat on a farm. Had circumstances remained that way, Uhura would have had a considerably enjoyable life with a guaranteed occupation as a mouser. Her time there, however, was short-lived. When she was still very young, just beginning to venture out and catch her own mice, the barn caught fire and claimed the lives of most of its occupants, including (as far as she knows) Uhura's mother and siblings.
Uhura only escaped with her life because she was wandering the grounds at the time of the fire. She must have passed out from the fumes, because the next thing she knew, she was waking up in an unfamiliar, enclosed space. The moment she opened her eyes, somecat she didn't know rushed to her side and started babbling on about what a close call that was and how lucky Uhura was to be alive. She spent all of her kittenhood with this cat, an old queen called Cora who was well-meaning but completely insane. Kittens have short memories as it is, and after only a few weeks living with her, Cora had Uhura convinced that the both of them were escaped victims of experimentation by humans who were searching for methods of sending people into space with no protection. According to Cora, they'd both visited the moon multiple times, had super-powers because of what the humans had done to them, and every other mad idea imaginable. But, now that they had escaped their human captors, they could roam the streets together and live just however they wanted. As she grew older, and had contact with other cats about town, Uhura began to doubt certain details of Cora's stories; but she remained fully convinced that the humans had held them captive and experimented on them in some manner, were probably responsible for her family's death, and that instilled in her a deep-rooted dread and hatred of all humans.
Cora had already been advanced in age when she found Uhura, and died when Uhura was just reaching adulthood. After the old queen's death, Uhura could have managed well enough on her own; Cora had done well at teaching her survival, though most everything else she said was nonsense. However, Uhura had grown accustomed to having company, and had no interest in a life of solitude. She had seen various gangs about the city, and considered joining up with one of them. She followed each of them, learning what she could of their ways of life; finally coming across the Jellicles and then the Henches. After observing both carefully, she decided to join Macavity's gang. She was by no means a cold-blooded killer, and wasn't exactly excited about the lifestyle she was entering. However, she preferred it to the Jellicles, whose "one big family" life rather sickened her, and - to her, far worse - many of whom wore collars indicating they allowed themselves to belong to humans, who Uhura considers the most despicable creatures on earth.
RP Sample: The dark-furred queen darted around a corner - just in time for that large henchman to go by without seeing her. She didn't feel like a confrontation just now... Uhura slowly made her way out into the city streets, looking around hopefully for any suspicious activity she might be able to report to Macavity. She had not exactly been assigned this, but since there was nothing of much importance occurring back at the warehouse, why not take any chance to possibly gain some favour? Perhaps some Jellicles to capture... Unfortunately, though, so far it was dull as tombs out here. Her pelt prickled with frustration. Purely for spite, she kicked at a human's rubbish bin, sending it toppling onto its side and its contents spilling out onto the walk. "Clear that up," she sneered under her breath.
Comments: Hmm...no mystic powers here.
