Name: Rumpelteazer (Teaze, Teazer)
Gender: Female
Age: Adolescent
Tribe: Jellicle.
Tribe Position:
Family: Brother: Mungojerrie; parents deceased
Appearance: Rumpelteazer is a muscular, though slender, queen with a flexible body (about average height). She has a white coat with black and orange stripes, naturally sleek despite the lack of attention she pays to her personal grooming. Her eyes, hazel, are lively and do indeed provide a window to her soul as you can read her emotions clearly in them. She has a mischievous grin that she uses as her default expression. She always wears a string of pearls looped around her neck, a precious gift from her brother.
Human Appearance: Karen Gillan
Personality: Rumpelteazer is fun loving and vibrant. She likes to cause trouble, have close escapes. Teazer's quite clumsy for a thief and is likely to drop the things you give her to hold or to trip over or knock into things. She speaks her mind, despite the consequences, and has little respect for authority or her elders. She has a tendency of getting louder and more boisterous as the number of cats she’s around increases. She can be more mellow when she’s around just one or two close friends.
Without a doubt, Teazer is closest to her brother Mungojerrie. Rarely will you find one without the other being nearby. Especially lately. She knows how affected he was (they both were) by their parent’s murder, and he’s always been protective of her. But since their flight to the Jellicles, he’s become overly so. She can take it, but eventually begins to feel stifled. She’s taken to slipping away every now and then, just for a little while, to clear her head -which probably makes him worry even more. She has no less love for him despite this. She likes that he cares so much for her, and tries to do the same in return.
Rumpelteazer feels like she hasn’t yet been fully accepted by the Jellicles. Because of her past with Macavity’s tribe and the joy she takes in stealing, she thinks she’s disapproved of by her new tribe. This doesn’t stop her from enjoying herself, but she’s yet to open up or really get close to anyone in the tribe, leaving her feeling a little bit lonely.
Describing word: Vivacious
History: Murder casts a dark shadow over Rumpelteazer’s life. It was an idyllic life growing up, a small, affectionate family. She was close to Mungojerrie, brother and best friend, and she loved her parents. But they were proud cats, and had a habit of standing up to and getting in the way of those they disagreed with. In this case, Macavity. And when they became too much of an obstacle, he came to call.
Everyone has a meeting with Death. For Rumpelteazer’s parents, there was a cancellation and they were able to come in early. To her, there was no horror worse than the one she witnessed that night, her parents slain in front of her. And then there was a hand offered to the surviving kittens. Come with me, join me, and you need not die. An effective recruiting technique, Mungojerrie and Rumpelteazer went with Macavity and his henchmen.
Teazer detested being a part of the tribe that murdered her parents, but she had to admit that living a life of crime suited her tastes very well. It was exciting and dangerous. Then, she and Jerrie began stealing from the tribe itself, and that was even better. She loved the thrill of the heightened danger, and the thought that she was little by little exacting some small revenge on them.
Mungojerrie went one step further, and one night he stole from Macavity himself, pearls that had once belonged to their mother. The next day, it became clear to them that there was no way they could continue working for the Napoleon of Crime. The theft was discovered, and Rumpelteazer knew that the hand of retribution would be brought down upon them. Because of their parents, they had never quite been trusted at the warehouse. And she was worried that with the discovery of this crime, the other, smaller thefts they'd committed in the warehouse would begin to be connected back to them. There was no question that the punishment would be severe.
So, they fled. The brother and sister left for the Jellicle tribe, rival to Macavity’s own, hoping for protection. They arrived just before the Jellicle’s celebration of the Jellicle Ball and were offered the home they desired. Though she doesn’t actively seek revenge on Macavity and his tribe for what they did to her parents, she still has a lot of hate for him. His appearance in the Junkyard at the Jellicle Ball, where she thought she and Jerrie would be safe, was upsetting.
RP Sample: “What?” Teazer gasped. She stared down at her chest, at the pearls hanging around her neck. So familiar, so long since she’d seen them last. Seen them being yanked from the limp neck of her dead mother…Her eyes flew to her brother’s face. “Jerrie,” she whispered, “what have you done?” They had been stealing, but surely this was going too far. This was announcing the hate you still held for your parent’s murderers. Knicking petty trinkets was one thing, this was different and personal.
Comments: Rumpelteazer is bisexual.
(Trez, any issues you have with the history or the various mentions of Jerrie, let me know)
