Her mind raced as she walked with the large black male. She was vaguely paying attention to all the alleys he was taking her. Her thoughts however went through years of her life. The loving courtship and attraction Macavity had taken her through. He was a perfect gentletom. Then they mated, things were still alright...but soon her fairy tale was turning into a nightmare. He snapped, frightening her at everything she did. The forced intimate engagements, the brutality. Yet she felt they were not all his fault. She kept finding excuses to tolerating his behavior. Yet more and more she feared him. When Vipurr and Bombalurina convinced her she would soon perish at his claws, she gave in to their plan. They wanted her to be safe. Have a happy life. Once she escaped, she fled to the yard with Bombalurina. Leaving young Vipurr and Vespurr behind. She could not believe, after witnessing their escape, that she was going back. She just could not find where she belonged.
The gold tabby looked up, blinking the tears from her eyes. This time would be different. She liked Rumpus's situation. He had those he loved in the yard. Perhaps Demeter could still see the ones she loved.
There was also the stipulation that if Macavity could not convince her to her satisfaction that he had changed...Rumpus would take her back no strings attached. She let out a slow breath. She saw the warehouse entrance.

Rumpus wasn't surprised at all that the rest of the trip back to the warehouse was done in silence. Demeter seemed like she needed the time to think things over and whenever he'd glance back at her she looked to be miles away, perhaps the past or hung up on what if's, or thinking about the future. Rumpus didn't know. He didn't think she was going to back out before meeting with Macavity on semi-friendly grounds again.
However, he had been able to convince her to come back and give it a shot. It was going to be up to Macavity and his charisma, to convince her to stay. Though, he respected Macavity, and would be beside him. Still he knew he was the true neutral party between the two. But he still had faith that Macavity would be pleased to see Demeter there once more.
Gently he walked up to the entrance, rather grateful they hadn't run into any other henches about yet. Though he knew their patrol schedules, so was able to elude them quite well, even with another in tow. He opened the doors for Demeter and gestured for her to go ahead. "If Macavity is not in the lobby, we can try his room. But he's usually walking about the warehouse."
He let his tail touch hers gently. "You sure you're ready?"

Demeter had looked all around as they walked in. Her amber eyes looked up at the large male. She shrugged and gave a small smile.
"I guess I am as ready as I will ever be....lets face it, if I turn back now...I may regret it" She said a little more bravely then she felt. Inside she was terrified.

Macavity strode through the halls of the warehouse, pacing out his aggravation without snapping fully into violence. He stopped only to speak to few a pawful of henches, mostly to inform them that Jellylorum was as of now under his protection inside and only inside the warehouse as well as an acting healer. No doubt the word would be spread, she wasn't to be included in the open season he called on any Jellicles still in the warehouse. Foolish naivety to think he wouldn't know of their attempts.
The ginger tom had walked most of the warehouse and was now coming upon the lobby, and stopped dead in his tracks. He shook his head, as if to clear it before once again setting his eyes on the pair of cats - Rumpus whom the sight of brought a small smile to his lips and Demeter whose presence shocked him. She'd run away and joined the Jellicles....the Jellicles who he'd just given orders to any Hench to attack if they were spotted in the warehouse. Bloody hell.
He approached the pair, eyes flicking between the two cats trying to figure exactly what was going on. "Demeter?" He asked, momentarily thinking his mind was tricking him, then glanced at Rumpus raising an eyebrow silently questioning what was going on.

Rumpus was pleasantly surprised to run into Macavity so soon, but did note that Macavity wasn't in the best of moods. He had almost reached out to the tom. He wanted to touch, and give Macavity something positive to distract him, yet Rumpus frowned slightly and withdrew his paw from connecting with his leader. He didn't know why the Ginger tom was upset; as he had been quite busy patrolling on the streets.
"Good evening, Mack." He spoke, with obvious respect, but he kept it informal.
Macavity had gotten after him last time he addressed him formally, so he was trying it out. He smiled broadly, his paw offered over towards Demeter, giving her the option to accept it. "I found a very troubled Demeter in the streets, earlier. I gave her an offer and she agreed to come and talk with you." He spoke carefully. He didn't use the same infliction's that he usually spoke with when faced with the ginger tom. There was no way for him to tell him EXACTLY what he wanted to say, without Demeter bolting. But he knew Macavity would catch onto something, he was incredibly smart.
"She is under my protection."
It wasn't an order, it wasn't a suggestion and it wasn't a threat. He wanted Demeter to feel safe and secure, even though she was most likely in a very vulnerable position; as well as help Macavity get a better handle on what Rumpus had in mind for Demeter without speaking it out loud. And even if Macavity didn't get on the same page as him, he knew Macavity would come to his own conclusions about how to get Demeter back within the fold and use her skills to his own advantage. The tom had a wickedly clever mind, and Rumpus admired him for it.

Demeter felt her breath catch when she saw him. She tried to pull on a cold exterior...but the memories...kept flashing in her mind. She did her best for eyes to remain neutral. Untrusting but neutral. She looked to Rumpus as he spoke and then back to Macavity. The black and gold tabby queen put on her most regal look. "It was not easy to come here. If Rumpus had not run into me and talked to me, I would not be here" She stated. Her deep alto voice was surprisingly unwavering. "As much as I love some of the jellicles...I am afraid my place is not with them." She let the statement hang in the air. She was somewhat surprised at Macavity reaction to her presence there. He was not angry to see her, he was not crazy and lustful. He seemed normal...as normal as he could be. He seemed astonished.

His mind immediately started jumping from reason to reason as to the possible reason of Demeter's presence. With his recent open season order on any Jellicle in the warehouse popping up every few reasons. Although with both Mac and Rumpus here he doubted any Hench would actually act, additionally Deme had once been one of them.
The ginger tom's lip quirked slightly as Rumpus finally gave up his normal formality, it'd taken long enough. Carefully though he listened to the tom, taking special note of the infliction of his voice and gesture to Demeter. Troubled? Troubled enough to entertain the thought of at least momentarily returning to the warehosue? Oh that was very interesting. He nodded at Rumpus' statement, "Good. There's an open season order." He informed the other tom, trying to communicate that there had been unwanted Jellicles in the warehouse very recently without actually saying much.
His attention was recaptured by Demeter, the gold queen that he'd once gone mad over. While listening he also regarded the visible way she'd changed since he'd last seen her. He contemplated his words carefully, knowing full well that how this exchange went would be due in a large part to his reactions. And despite the cogs and all the possibilities going through his mind at why she'd be here, her own actual free will or some half-baked plan by one of his half-brothers, out of desperation etc. and how her being here could benefit or hinder his own interests. No doubt Rumpus had brought her here knowing that Mac's thought would take this kind of turn. "I did find the Junkyard to be lacking as well all those years ago." He agreed not wanting to give his thoughts away to his old love while trying to direct her to reveal more, as Mac didn't have enough information on how Deme had changed and how she now thought to be confident in his methods of persuasion to best benefit the situation.

Rumpus nodded briefly with Macavity's open season order. Though he suspected that as soon as the other Henches learned that Demeter was under his protection they'd leave Demeter alone. Most did tend to treat Rumpus as though he were one in authority around the warehouse too. He didn't think he was, but to know that he was respected, or was it feared, enough to obey his orders as well as Macavitys. Well, he tried not to let it go to his head...too often.
"You're not the only one Mackie." Rumpus spoke softly. His paw stopping midway from touching the ginger tom. He didn't want to force too much emotion on the tom, and he figured Demeter might get a little too freaked out if Rumpus displayed a more friendly relationship with Macavity rather then a business type of relationship. "Like I told you earlier Deme. I myself feel like I am not worth much in the junkyard, but I still have friends there." He raised up an eyebrow in Macavity's direction.
He didn't want to back Macavity or Demeter into a corner and felt Demeter would be more comfortable going at her own pace.

Demeter remained calm. On the outside. Inside her brain was wracked with questions. What the hell was 'open season?' Had she made a mistake? Was she in danger? No..Rumpus promised if there was danger to her , he would get her out no questions asked. Movement, a paw...Rumpus's paw. Towards Macavity. She glanced at the black male's face. Oddly, he was calm, collected. Was...was he reaching for Macavity? In...a friendly nature? Demeter was interested now. She bravely decided to look up at Macavity's face.
"Might as well put the obvious out there" She was shocked at the calm regal alto her voice projected. Almost like she was before Macavity hurt her. She felt more aware now...more prepared should he take the turn for the worst. The gold and black queen rolled her shoulders back. No more hunching...it was unbecoming. "I only left here because of you. I am not trying to get an apology here, I know I won't get one. It would be rather cliche now anyway. Rumpus was right, I am unhappy there at the yard. I can't seem to get anyone to forget my past. I can't seem to move on. I do love and wish to remain friends with certain jellicles, but I can't go on living there. Rumpus made the suggestion to come and speak with you, that you have changed. I can't pretend I did not love you once, nor can I pretend I did not love being here. I felt at home here before things changed" She was surprised at how precise her thoughts were. She sounded like her old self again. Demeter was NOT a scared kitten. At least the undamaged Demeter wasn't. She was smart, she had a way with words. And she was proper. That was what Macavity liked about her in the first place. She liked to give Griddlebone a run for her money back in the day. Her amber eyes awaited the Ginger males response. Even if he said 'Get out' at that point, Demeter wasn't entirely sure if she would have cared.

Mac had always viewed the Junkyard to boast about its acceptance, that so many cats could call the place home, and yet here and now there were multiple cats who had once been Jellicles. One who had left there and come to the warehouse. Rather than reciprocating Rumpus' slightly out reached paw, the ginger tom opted for a slightly the more subtle, he flicked his tail to lightly brush against the dark tom's leg.
Demeter wasn't the only one surprised at the calm of the queen's voice; Macavity had heard of the way Demeter that had been in the Junkyard. Slowly he watched the queen he'd fallen for reemerge, regaining the posture and air that had been enough to rival Griddle. He raised an eyebrow listening to her, slightly amused that she was spot on in regards to an apology.
He glanced at the mention of Rumpus saying he'd changed. Macavity supposed it was true, not that he'd taken much notice of the fact. Everyone changed, including Demeter. Yes it was easy to remember her loving the warehouse, but if he'd changed then so could she, and with her changing so could her loyalties. Macavity couldn't ignore the fact that of her tribe jumping. He knew he shouldn't let their past cloud his thoughts on this, that he needed to think critically no matter that he had somewhere in his mind wanted her back in the warehouse. Although having her back in the warehouse could very well work out for the better in regards of the cats who would remember her. And obviously additionally to his own thoughts Macavity had no doubt that Rumpus had some type of notion in his head in suggesting Demeter come with him to the warehouse. "Always the one to weave your words right. Although much as you cannot pretend you past here does not exist, I cannot ignore how easily you've gone between the two tribes no matter how persuasive Rumpus can be." He cast a small sideways smirk at Rumpus on her persuasive statement before refocusing on Demeter again, waiting for her reaction as he crossed his arms over his chest. He fully trusted Rumpus, but he couldn't ignore the way Demeter had simply run out and he didn't trust those in the yard.

Demeter mimicked Macavity by crossing her arms under her ample bosom. "Easy...you think I just took a stroll across the way?" She kept her tone even. Macavity hated whiners. No she was keeping herself in check. "Not to get to personal but you did not see what I went through at the yard. All you see was my absence, and the only one you have to blame for that is yourself" Demeter remained composed. Although inside she was screaming at his arrogance. "I only thought back to that last place that felt right. That I felt like myself. My thoughts came here. I am wiser now. I know the mistakes I made" She had emphasis on the word mistakes and her amber hues bored into Macavity's eyes. She looked to Rumpus, "You may have been right....for your own point of view." She looked back at the Ginger male. "Perhaps I made another mistake" She said. She felt like a fool now coming back here. How could she expect him to invite her back now? Maybe the streets were more inviting.

Rumpus felt the tail of Macavity's touch his ankle briefly and he relaxed completely at the gesture. However, after Rumpus said just a few words, it was like he had faded into the shadows. The pair were talking, or rather disagreeing, and oddly enough...Rumpus felt like he was suddenly watching an old married couple trying to go through their second divorce. It was oddly disturbing and amusing.
Still... He did not bring Demeter to the warehouse for his entertainment or to see the old pair bicker. And as smart as Macavity was, Rumpus only saw the scenario spinning out of control if he didn't step in. Clearing his throat, to make his presence known again, for it seemed as though the pair had forgotten him. His soft, tenor voice slid itself into the conversation. "Might I interject, and offer up a compromise?"

Macavity's eyes narrowed, boring them into the queen standing in front of him. While Demeter was internally screaming at him for his arrogance, Macavity was scorning hers. She was blaming him for only seeing his own point of view and the way she spoke Mac got the impression that Demeter was doing the exact same thing. Even if the decisions to switch tribes weren't "easy" Mac still couldn't ignore the fact that she had switched multiple times now.
Despite his best efforts Mac's anger was rising, he was trying to keep it from affecting the situation as there was no doubt it would do him absolutely no benefit. The ginger tom was about to retort, and there was a chance something that could screw up the entire situation about to come out of his mouth when Rumpus spoke instead. Taking a moment to take a deep breath, Macavity nodded "Of course, you create the opportunity Rumpus. What is your compromies?" He asked thankful for a level head in the connversation.
