George's face softened but only because he saw the reaction of his sister. He tried to give her a smile.
"Vy posmotrite uyutnyy" (You look cozy) He rattled off in Russian.
"nam nuzhno pogovorit" (We need to talk) He finished. He wanted to speak to her alone. He needed to. He wanted to be able to hold her. He missed her. He gave her another brotherly smile as to not alarm her or Dueteronomy,
"lyubimyy starshiy" (Beloved Elder) George bowed his head at Deuteronomy. "I am sure you are doing fine. Russian is not easy to learn" George placated with old leader.
"You could not have a better teacher" He gave his sister a compliment, whether he believed it or not. To him, he was the better linguist. After all, he taught Victoria English. "Perhaps, if you would not mind, I would like a word with 'moya sestra' (My sister)" He smiled. He seemed utterly harmless.

Victoria bowed her head to hide the shock she felt. Her brother was not scolding her, he was even giving her a compliment. Without noticing she shook her head as her thoughts raced in her mind. One part was happy to have her brother back the way she remembered him in Russia, when they shared everything. she yearned towards these times when she "understood" him. Another part of her cringed in expectation for the bomb to explode - Yuri ... George wasn't nice to her anymore. almost every time she was on her own with other she would get a scolding for some reason or another and she feared what would follow, if he was friendly now...
She looked up to her brother then to Old Deuteronomy and tried to fix a smile on her face, which didn't work as well as she tried. She answered George with a subdued voice and again in her mothertongue.
"Of course, brother. I will be leaving with you shortly. Just let me say my good-byes to our leader as it is proper."
She turned towards the big Main Coon and curtsied in a grand fashion.
"Thank you, leader for your time and company. I enjoyed bringing you my ... our language closer and I am looking forward towards another lesson."
She stopped shortly and glanced at her brother trying to hide her fear of what might follow. Her voice shook slightly as she continued.
"But now my brother seems to seek my council and so I must depart with him. Moonlight to walk in, Leader."
With that she stood before Old Deuteronomy and walked the short distance to stand behind and slightly to the side of her brother.

Deuteronomy kept his face placid. there were very few who would be able to tell he was actually very reluctant to leave them alone. He wasn't sure himself why he felt this way--there was no logical reason for it, maybe it was just a form of jealousy? he wondered. Jemima was too loyal to tell him anything she knew of Victoria's heart, but he knew his youngest daughter was Victoria's friend & confidant. Maybe he should have a talk with her about George? Deuteronomy sighed. Maybe he was just jumping at imaginary fears. He had never seen anything to indicate that George was anything but a slightly over-protective brother, who had a few control issues. Bottom line, right now, he was clearly not wanted & if he stayed, it could cause trouble for the lovely queen--that was the last thing he wanted. He gave them both a polite smile & a bow--but his eyes lingered on her beloved face for just a few moments. Then he straightened, "I will leave you to your conference then my dears," he said rumbling softly. "I will let Victoria bring you up to date on the dangers & warnings we are circulating. Thank you for my lessons Lady Victoria," he added formally. "Be sure to let me know when you are free to give me another one." The large cat wanted to say so much more, but refrained. Now was not the time. Instead, he gracefully paced out of the area. He made a mental note to check on her soon though.

George politely bowed to the leader. Giving his respects as it was. He left the smile on his face until he left. The slender, graceful male then turned to his sister.
"You seemed very comfortable with him just now sister..." His tone was knowing, and observation that did not want excuses.
"Don't you think he is a tad old for you?" He asked calmly. His pale gray/blue eyes looked hauntingly into hers.

Victoria felt the smile her face had held while the old leader had been present, falling off. <There it starts...>, she thought as she slowly turned towards her brother. She repositioned herself in a proper and stiff sitting position, her tail curled around her legs, head downcast, with her eyes on her paws.
When she answered, her voice was quiet and demure, but it lack uncertainty. It stayed firm and with a hint if deviance.
"Of course I enjoyed the presence of the leader, Yuri. He is a great and wise tom, who has nothing but understanding and comfort for anyone in the tribe. Such a presence induces a sense of security and as such I was able to feel relaxed."
Victoria now looked up to George and it was quiet visible that tears were threatening to break free. The white jellicle knew that her words and tone would even get her into more trouble, but she already knew that her brother had decided that she was at fault here before she had even answered. So little difference did it make if she in return told him what she thought of his behavior.
"I resent what you are trying to insinuate, brother. In fact, I should feel honored, if someone like Deuteronomy, the leader of the junkyard tribe, a tom of respect, would be interested in advances of mine, as he is high above my station in life and inside his tribe "

The lean white and grey tom folded his solid arms. He gave Victoria a chance to speak, although it was clear on his face he was not happy with what he had just heard. "And you do not feel safe with me? I am blood Vika. I would protect you with my own life. " He threw in a disappointed tone. Did she not realize how much he loved her? "You think HE is good enough for YOU?" He questioned. "Victoria, yea the leader is wise and kind, but he is old. Crippled with age. You are young and beautiful. Not to mention, how he has been with many queens. Some at the same time. I do not wish my sister to be heartbroken by a leader who would be untrue. " George was certain he knew what was best for his sister. He reached over and pulled her into his chest. He wrapped his arms tightly around her, not giving her much choice to duck away. He started to stroke her mane. "Vika, I am looking out for you, you are my world. I could never live with myself if I did not protect you from hurtful toms like Deuteronomy. Do you not think those other queens felt betrayed, felt like tossed out rubbish? You do not want this." He sounded more and more like he was convincing himself over Victoria.

Victoria got pulled into her brother's embrace. Though she didn't really struggle, she felt herself tensing up. She expected Yuri to scold her in his quiet way, always pointing out her shortcomings in her action. So she didn't really answer the embrace but rather had her arms and hands before her and between them. She blinked when Yuri started to on the leader. Did she hear right? Was her brother really trying to tell her, that Old Deuteronomy was like Tugger with the queens, or even worse? She started at her brother's face, already feeling tears threatening in her eyes.
"Nyet! No! I won't believe that of the leader, Yuri! Yes, he did have a lot of mates. His song in the Jellicle ball states so. But he lost them. Either they left him or they died. In all the time he was faithful to the mate he had."
She tried to pry herself out of the embrace, but she couldn't bring up the strength to do so, so she only helplessly pushed her arms against her brother's chest, before she gave up and surrendered to his caress.
"I know you want only what is best for me, Yuri. But I can't believe what you say about the leader. Besides not he is not worthy of me ... I am not worthy of him."

George sighed, outwardly showing his concern for her tears, inwardly knowing it would not take much to show her the leader liked to look at feminine figures. "Vika...you are more then worthy. Problem is finding a tom worthy of you. I look after you. I am not trying to rob you of this relationship you seem so desperate to create. Have I ever said anything bad about the leader before? Nyet. Have I admired his intelligence? Da. You seem everyone has faults. I do not want you getting into something and becoming a spectacle of the tribe. He will dishonor you. He dishonored all his mates. His children are close in age yet none except the twins have the same mother...Vika...I know you are smarter then this. Your heart is clouding your judgement of what you know is true. He will betray you. His son is just like him. Is that what you want? To be dishonored by a geriatric Rum Tum Tugger?" The white and gray male was laying it on rather thick. Although he was not entirely false. The leader had many children to many mates. He refused to let his sister be looked upon as the leaders tart.
He lowered his chin and rested it on her head. He started a rumbling purr to soothe her. "My baby sister. Have I ever lied to you?" George knew he had not. He however had this uncanny ability to bring out the darkness in every situation and use it to his advantage when it came to HIS sister.

Victoria felt her ire and defiance melt out of her in her brother's embrace. His purrs and soft caresses brought back the peaceful memories of her kittenhood in Mother Russia. Especially the times when her relationship with her brother wasn't as strained as she always felt these days. She wrapped her arms around him and tightened the hug. Soon her own purrs of contentment mixed with his. Why could Yuri not always be this way...
"Nyet, Yuri. You never lied to me."
She drew slightly back and looked up into her brother's face.
"But please excuse me, that I don't share your view on the leader. All the stories, all the songs about him and tribe always state that he had one mate. he either outlived them, or they left ... like the one who returned now trying to make a claim on him ... an unwanted one. She, she is Munkustrap's mother and left him with the kitten alone. She never left a word of what happened, and now returned believing to pick up where she left. I can understand the leader, that he doesn't want to be in such a situation nor her back."
Again she pressed her head against Yuri's chest, rubbing into his fur, whispering.
"I don't ... I can't ...and I won't believe that of the leader ever, Yuri!"

George knew the leader would hurt his young naive sister. He was the only tom in her life that would be good to her. "You think I do not know what I am talking about?" He said calmly. He continued to stroke her shoulders. He knew he was right in the leaders wondering eye. He sighed "That is disturbing Vika, I am the one who has always looked after you. You state his song is about all good qualities, yes? You would be incorrect. He is like that male abomination Tugger. He cares not for your emotional well being, he merely wants what you have. You are no stranger to beauty my sister. Toms notice this, toms of every age. Your only fault is your demure personality. How do you expect to keep the leaders attention? Hmm?" George started to weave the web that would soon isolate his Victoria to be with only him. "You are like a beautiful painting. You capture their attention for moments, but because you can not command their attention, they move on. How long before the leader moves on?" George looked down and laid a lingering kiss on her fore head. "But I am here to protect you Vika, this is why I am so concerned" George had never let her go, his voice stayed soft and calm. His purr even remained and he lovingly stroked her make and shoulders.

Victoria's head swam with conflicting thoughts. Her brother's words echoed inside her head over and over and warred with her own perception of what she thought was right. Yuri had never lied to her. He had always taken care to her. Why would he lie now?... she knew he wouldn't ... she believed he wouldn't. But her own emotions just told so much a different story. She felt the honesty of the junkyard Jellicles, especially of the old leader. If she was honest with herself, she felt even more secure in his arms than she always did in her brother's. The more the thoughts warred in her mind, the smaller she felt in her brothers arms. She barely felt his kiss, nor was she really hearing his words, they just piled on top of the other words in her head. Finally her strength and bravado she showed earlier broke, and the tears were starting to stream into her cheek fur.
"Will you take me home, Yuri? I ... I just want to go home..."
She clung to her brother tightly ... and she felt very much alone ... and small...

George smiled slightly out of her view. He started a purr for her to bring her in even more. "Yes my darling Vika, I will take you home. " He stroked her mane and caressed her shoulders. The white and gray tom tucked her under his arm and helped guide her towards their humans home.
After helping her inside, George took her to his bed instead of hers. He helped her to lay down and then he laid beside her and pulled her into his chest. "I am so sorry Vika" He almost purred. "Stay with me and I will protect you from such disappointment" He said soothingly.

Victoria didn't recall the way to her human home. To her the trip was just a long blur in which her thoughts raced. In quick succession she saw the faces of the junkyard jellicles appear before her inner eyes, especially Plato, Tugger, Munkustrap and of course Old Deuteronomy, all painted in the color her brother had just given them and it made her inwardly cringe before the seemingly leering faces. It hurt her even more to see the leader in that way, that tears always threatened to spill each time his face dominated her thoughts. Above them all, her brother's face loomed like a beneficial and protecting presence in her mind. She felt herself unable to mistrust him, didn't see the manipulation her pulled on her except on a very instinctual level, which were causing her current mental distress. When they finally reached her home, and she was guided to his resting place, she curled into a tight ball in his arms, softly sobbing without tears, as sleep and dreams took her. Dreams that continued her former turmoil in nightmarish intensity, denying her sleep any rest...

George had Victoria all to himself. This was the right thing to do in his mind. He was protecting his sister. He looked down at her angelic face. Something plagued his thoughts, and even desire. Victoria was so perfect in every way except her judgement on others. Now George could put a stop to that. He could be her only one. He would never leave her. George already thought of Victoria as HIS. Why not be all of HIS? He realized he was trying to fight off arousal as he lay there with his sister. An overwhelming cry in the back of his mind stopped him. This was wrong! Wasn't it? George felt incomplete with Victoria out of his sight. For some reason a pang in his chest made him think of the word guilt. George shook his head slightly and with it those doubts. He nestled his face between Victoria's ears and inhaled her scent. Soothingly to him, the scent made him fall asleep.

Victoria's sleep was filled with nightmares. Like on her trip home, her brother's words continued to echo in her mind, suffusing her whole being, warping her memories of the toms of the tribe. All the faces of the prominent toms were turned into horrible masks of their usual appearance. Macavity, as she had seen him during the last Jellicle Ball when he abducted Old Deuteronomy and later on fought Munkustrap, appeared angelic in contrast to her tribes faces with each word of her brother echoing in the halls of her mind. Her sleep and nightmare seemed endless to her mind. Mostly whimpering all the time, slightly trembling, she stayed that small ball in the embrace of her brother, until ....
"GASP!!"
Victoria's eyes snapped open and she drew in a sudden deep breath. She Pressed Both her hands on her muzzle and mouth to keep from screaming out. If anything she didn't want to wake her brother, still curled around and behind her, still fast asleep. Carefully she disentangled herself out of his embrace, replacing her form with one of the discarded pillows from the side of the bed. Quietly on silent paws she sneaked out of the room towards the kitchen. Her throat felt parched, her heart was still thumping like she had just completed the full Jellicle Ball twice in a row. Suppressing the shivers and trembles of her inner turmoil she slipped out of the room where her and George's beds were. She reached the kitchen and greedily drank from the water their owner had always out for them. While the scooped up the water from the bowl she saw the reflexion of her almost haggard face, the lines under her eyes and along her muzzle clearly showed what an ordeal her nightmare had been for her. Gently shaking to continue to drink her fill and then sat against the wall next to their food place, burrowing her face in her hands.
[EXIT Victoria]
