Name: Riven
Gender: Female
Age: Adolescent
Tribe: Jellicle.
Tribe Position: N/A
Family: She does not know her biological family, although she was adopted by a dog by the name of Lila and raised with Lila’s pups, Rath, and Robin.
Appearance: I’ll get a better one soon
Human Appearance: Sierra Kusterbeck
Personality: Riven is about as lively as they come, she had the personality of a dog in a cat’s body. Meaning that she’s picked up and adopted a lot of traits that are more usually associated with canines, like an intense enthusiasm and energy level to the point that she can’t sit still for more than five minutes and lacks the typical feline aversion to water. As well, essentially growing up in a different culture Riven still often gets confused on the terms used by cats (like pollicle).
Riven is also a cat that will talk to anyone and everyone, she has no qualms of walking up to a stranger and simply starting a conversation without any knowledge of who she’s talking to. If given the chance she just might talk your ears off, and her lack of mental filter can make for a very interesting conversation.
As soon as Riven considers anyone a friend, she’s as loyal as they come and willing to fight to protect them. She would do just about anything to help those she considers pack (once again using dog terms despite the fact that she’s now living with cats) whether its trying to protect them (she’s quite useful when it comes to dealing with dogs considering she knows and is friends with quite a few) or simply cheering them up with her antics.
Faults: Despite her near constant smile and openness, Riven actually has a near crippling fear of abandonment. Seeing as she was kicked out of her home and left to fend for herself she is terrified of being kicked out of the Jellicles and being alone once again. Tied into this fear is the fact that Riven tries to downplay and cover it up as much as possible, simply because she doesn’t want to deal with the issue so essentially she sticks her head in the ground and focuses on other aspects in life.
In addition to her fear, Riven’s lack of a mental filter can often been seen as a fault. Despite having the best intentions, her rambling can often be offsetting or uncomfortable to others. It doesn’t help with keeping secrets either, she won’t mean for it but often they can slip out when she’s talking a mile a minute.
Describing word: Lively
History: Even from the beginning, Riven’s had an odd life. She was somehow separated from her mother and the rest of her litter before Riven had ever opened her eyes. She was taken in by the owner of a small pet store and as at the time there were no cats in the store the kitten was placed with a dog who had just given birth to two pups. Knowing nothing else Riven seamlessly adjusted to this, growing up and bonding to her adopted family.
Growing up Riven was inseparable from her siblings. She grew up surrounded by dogs, and became accustomed to the rougher play and wrestling and even became rather skilled in acrobatics.
Eventually a family came in looking to adopt a puppy, although their daughter fell in love with both Rath and Robin. The storeowner’s friend had been filling in for the sick storeowner and accidently sold the two and left Riven on her own. This is where her abandonment issues blossomed. The coppery cat refused to eat, or play and got incredibly sick unable to cope without her siblings. After a couple of weeks the family returned, worried about their new puppies who wouldn’t eat either. It was resolved when the family left with their new kitten in tow.
For several years Riven’s life was full of happiness and adventure, her acrobatic skills improving further. But due to the father’s work the family had to move to a different country and couldn’t bring their dogs or cat, who were sold with the house. Unfortunately the new family hated cats, even one who acted like a dog. Riven was literally thrown out the door. Spiralling into a depression she refused to leave, once again unable to cope without Rath and Robin. Fed up with the cat sticking around the family threatened Riven and had it not been for her brother’s warning that they’d shoot her Riven wouldn’t have ever left. So she took to the streets, performing tricks and trying to cope with her new life.
It was during one of her impromptu acrobatic tricks to try and get better (and distract herself) that Riven literally tumbled into the junkyard and through the kindness of the cats there became a part of the tribe.
RP Sample: Riven had left the main part of the junkyard, finding herself a slightly more secluded part of the yard so that she could practice and focus. The coppery queen loved to perform but lately every time she practiced ended up interrupted and Riv just wanted to get this trick so that she could show the others.
Taking a deep breath, Riven bent backwards, flowing easily into a simple handstand. Taking a few moments to figure out exactly what she wanted Riven slowly bent her back, compressing the spine so that her feet were out in front of her. With a quick flick her tail was out of the way, and closing her eyes Riven allowed her body to shift, legs and lower torso swaying to the right as she lifted up her left hand.
After an hour or so Riven got up excitedly, wanting to show the other cats what she had managed and quickly ran off to find one of them a smile firmly planted on her face.
Comments: She has a bandana that’s tied around her next that used to serve as a collar and that Riven still wears (she refuses to talk it off). No mystic abilities unless you count her incredibly ability to speak just about everything on her mind.
