Appearance: Jelly is a silver, brown & gray tabby with white tummy & paws. She is slender with short fur & yellow eyes. She is very graceful & can easily keep up with the other queens in the Jellicle dancing!
Personality: As a serious cat with a rather prim attitude, Jelly often acts older than she is. She is also loyal, loving & kind. She loves to dance & sing with the other ladies, but she tends to steer clear of all the males but Gus Sr. She is usually shy, quiet & retiring, but can become demanding & a bit dictatorial when it concerns the health & safety of her charges-particularly Gus Sr. Jelly feels that she is rather plain & ordinary & where she is spayed, doesn’t see the need for romance, but secretly longs for some.
History: Jelly was born to a young mother cat in London; & all she knows about her father was that he was a “traveling tom”. Jelly’s mother’s human gave away Jelly & her 3 siblings when they were weaned, & Jelly never saw them again.
Jelly was taken to a quiet nursing/hospice care home for severely ill humans. She learned how to care for the sick & the elderly. She learned the importance of decorum & love-as well as the need for cleanliness in all things! Jelly assisted the nurses by watching over her charges & summoning the nurse if needed or just staying by the side of those who were dying.
When Jelly was a young queen, the care facility closed & again she was taken from all she knew. Understandably, confused, she was brought to her new home. This is where she met Jennyanydots. Jenny’s human had brought Jelly home to be a companion to Jenny & they grew very close. Jelly is quite a bit younger than Jenny, but she copies a lot of Jenny’s mannerisms & sees her as an older sister that she loves & admires.
Under Jenny’s tutelage, Jelly blossomed. Jenny introduced her to the other Jellcle cats & Jelly loves them all-even Tugger. She & Gus formed a particular bond, however, deeper than most of Jelly’s other relationships. Jelly doesn’t know that Gus is her father & whether he realizes it or not, is unknown. Aside from Jenny, Gus is her closest friend & due to his age & infirmity, she worries incessantly about him. When not caring for Gus Sr. Jelly is often found minding the kittens or working with Jenny in the Healer’s den.
Role playing sample: Jelly cuddled the kitten to her chest & tickled him. "Now remember Jellicles Wash behind their ears & Dry between their toes!"
Laughing, she shooed him off to play. "All right Jenny, the last little one has been bathed, I'm going to tidy up then check on Gus-he's been out drinking with that rebrobate again. I'm also brewing him some of my herb tea, there's plenty if you'd like some dear."
Humming to herself, Jelly picked up the kittens toys & brewed Gus a cup of strong herb tea adding some licorice root & ginger to it as well. "there now, that should offset the hangover from the gin nicely."
