Deianira was sunning herself on the trunk of the old TSE1. She had been a Jellicle for a few months and she still didn't know anyone. She didn't know what was stopping her from introducing herself, maybe she was scared that they wouldn't like her. She was distracted from her thoughts when she heard a noise..

((mind if I join?  ) Pouncival didn't really pay attention, but somehow he ended up over by the old car. Not noticing that anyone was there, he hopped up onto the car--and bumped right into a queen! He gave a slight, startled yelp as he tumbled off the car and landed on his rump. "Er.... sorry...?" he stammered, reddening to the eartips. |

[[of course you can join  ]] Deianira caught herself before she tumbled off the car. She slightly shook her head before looking over at the tom that bumped into her. "It's ok. You can join me if you'd like," she answered as she patted the space next to her. |

"Umm... umm... thanks..." Pounce was still quite embarrassed.He tried not to show it, though, and hopped up onto the car (much more carefully this time). "Um..." Oh, great. Now he felt worse; he didn't even remember her name! "Er... I'm not sure if I've introduced myself before... bad memory," he laughed, tapping the side of his head. "I'm Pouncival."

Deianira could tell that he was embarrassed, but she thought it was cute. "It's nice to meet you, Pouncival. I'm Deianira, but you can call me Dei if you'd like," she replied as she flashed him a smile.

He smiled back, put at ease by her friendliness. "Okay...Dei," he repeated. "You can just call me Pounce, if you want...most people do..." He couldn't help chuckling to himself. Wouldn't Tumblebrutus be jealous if he knew Pounce was talking to this gorgeous queen! Well, maybe...Tumble was a bit preoccupied with Alyssa at the moment... Then he remembered what his brother was doing, and his smile faded. Great Heaviside... I hope they get out okay... He looked at Deianira, wondering if she knew of the rescue. Probably not; either that or she just didn't get worried very easily. He thought of what life would be like without Tumble... Urgh. It wouldn't be pleasant. Sure, the brothers drove each other off the wall, but that was what brothers were for! "So..." Great. He was bad at thinking of things to say at the moment...too distracted.

"You seem a bit...distracted, Pounce. Is it anything you wanna talk about," Deianira asked. She loved helping others and it appeared to her that Pouncival needed someone to talk to. She couldn't deny the fact that he was a very handsome tom, and that was always a plus.

"Yeah!" Now that he'd started, he had to keep going. "He's trapped in Macavity's lair. I don't know how it happened, but now Old Deuteronomy's gone too! So the others are going after them, but I don't see how they're going to--" Pounce cut off before he could voice his fears. No need to cause a panic.

Pounce reddened. Great. She'd noticed. "I... just don't... think they..." he mumbled. He tried again. There was nothing for it but to be blunt. "I think they're walking into their own deaths," he said truthfully.

Pouncival sighed. He knew she was being nice, trying to cheer him up. He was still a kit, for Heaviside's sake, he should be able to shake depression off and keep going! But this time he couldn't... The lives of two of the Junkyard's dearest Jellicles were at stake... And now the lives of half the other Jellicles, too.
