The darker coloured queen meandered through the streets of the city, enjoying both the warmer weather and the small break from the Yard. There was a tense anticipation in the air of the place that seemed to have everyone waiting for something to happen like a tragedy was going to strike the moment they stopped waiting for something. It had made the junkyard feel almost stifling and Electra had needed a bit of breathing from the stress and anxiety of it all. It made her skin crawl and fur stand on edge.
So she was thankful for the warmer turn in the weather and had slipped out a back entrance of the yard in an attempt to duck out as unnoticed as possible. Lectra had stayed away from her home for a better part of the day, enjoying the going ons of everyday life of the city's inhabitants. As the light started to wane, the Jellicle queen found herself not far from the docks. The air smelled of the water and it was a little quieter, allowing for a peace that had been lacking in the yard. This was what she'd been hoping for all day. Electra found a small perch and silently watched as the sun set, bathing the sky in brilliant colours as the light faded.

Slipping through the shadows, Ripley moved quietly. His back scraped against the hard brick walls as he navigated through the tight alley ways, snagging a mouse or two on the way. The dark halls of the warehouse had become stuffy, and the skull faced tom craved a little fresh air.
The docks seemed adequate. Ghengis’s minions rarely bothered him, and the ocean air was undoubtedly refreshing. Even on days when the sea smelled sour and the stench of dead fish polluted the air, it was better than the dust and murk of the warehouse. Though…he rarely complained of his home.
Stepping out of the shadows, his golden eyes caught sight of a queen sitting not to far from him. Apparently she had the same idea, because she surely wasn’t the type Ghengis recruited. But, maybe he was wrong. She could be Jellicle, but if she was, she wasn’t one he had seen before.
” Pretty, isn’t it.” He said, motioning towards the sunset as he walked towards her. ”Too bad this place stinks of rotting fish half the time.”

Being away from the Yard let all of that pent up stress and agitation that had been lurking just beneath the surface melt away. The tension - that she hadn't really noticed until it was gone - melting away and giving the queen a relaxing and much needed break. Electra really did love her tribe, but it was one where emotions seemed to run intensely through; the tribe's collective mood could become overwhelming and have the more introverted and tempered queen slipping away. Waiting for it to dissipate and allow herself to recenter. They were the times that she was more than thankful for a quiet disposition and a good amount of experience slipping away from the Yard into the city.
Eventually her absence would be noticed, but for now Lectra was more than content to take in the city and sunset.
She hadn't taken any notice of another cat approaching, so she startled a bit when the tom spoke. Ears flicking towards his position just before her head followed suit to see how had spoken; it wasn't a tom that she was familiar with but he didn't appear inclined to be a threat to her. So Electra offered him a small smile and nodded, "Yeah, but there are days that the sunset is worth putting up with the smell." She commented. "Especially when there isn't much commotion around to spoil the view."

"I'm surprised,"he chuckled honestly, a hand coming up to fiddle with the bone layered necklace around his neck. ”Typically you can’t come down here without bumping into one of Ghengis’s crew. They’re not bad, but too clean cut for my taste.” Ripley smirked, making his bone-like markings less intimidating.
Sensing that she didn’t mind his presence, Ripley sat down below her, swinging his arms behind him and stretching them out against the wooden crate behind him with a sigh. ”Let me guess, you needed to get away, right?” His golden eyes glanced up towards her. ”I never imagined Jellicles needed time alone – you all just seem so happy all the time.” He shouldn’t have asked such a personal question so soon after running into her, but he figured it was better than going through the same ol’ mundane small talk.
”I’m Ripley, by the way.”

The smile did a lot to make him less intimidating and seem warmer, and had Electra smiling in return. It was followed by a bit of a sheepish shrug, "I don't usually stay around too long if a lot of them are out here. Or I'll try to find a quieter spot." She'd rather avoid the conflict before it happened. As quiet with any temper as she was in large groups.
As the tom made himself comfortable Electra shifted her position into one where she'd be able to look down to where Ripley was comfortably, without any awkward straining. The queen nodded with a small chuckle as her entire reason for ending up at the docks was summed up in a single question. Though at his comment Electra rolled her eyes, looking good-naturedly exasperated at the blanket statement. "And all you Henches are just angry and always looking for a fight, right?" There was no real bite behind her words. But she had raised a brow in a vague challenge for him to contradict her own blanket statement of the other tribe.
"Electra, nice to meet you." She offered. "Need to get away too? Or just out looking for something interesting to happen?"

”Right. We are all total and complete arse holes looking to start trouble every day, all day,” he joked, grinning all the while. ” Nah, we’re not that bad. We just get a bad rep. thanks to the boss man.” The black tom shrugged his shoulders, feeling the bones in his spine pop slightly. It was true – most henches weren’t that bad. Some were, but the majority were just a little rough around the edges, him included.
At her question, he glanced back at her and shrugged again. ”Eh, a bit of both I suppose. It is always nice to change up the scenery a bit, and a little action always makes things interesting. Regardless, I’ll settle for one or the other.” He drummed his claws against the wood, smirking as he returned his gaze to the water. It was nice out here, he’d admit that. Maybe the smell wasn’t the best all the time, but the view was hard to beat.
”Nice name by the way. It suits you.”

A light laugh bubbled up at the joke, amusement with just a little bit of relief that he'd taken her comment as she'd meant it. More to point out that if the blanket statements of one weren't true, then shouldn't it be reasonable to assume that was the same for the other too? It wasn't as if every meeting between a hench and a jellicle ended in some horrible confrontation right? "Exactly, besides I don't think either tribe would manage to last too long if the stereotypes were one percent true for everyone." Even just imagining a tribe that was always happy or always eager for a fight was a little unsettling. "I'm not sure which would be worse - a perpetual smile or grimace." Both were a bit disconcerting really.
"I do enjoy a change of scenery every so often, though I'm less keen on the action really. Hell if there was much going on here I would have found somewhere else to watch the sun set" She admitted, ducking her head slightly. Lectra really wasn't one for confrontation and she knew it. Neither enjoying it or being particularly adept as dealing with it either.
She blushed at the comment, "Oh...I... um thanks." Taken off gaurd by the compliment it took a try or two before she got the word out properly. "It's from some old story I think? What about your name? Any idea where Ripley came from?"

”Probably a smile. How freaky would that be if someone never stopped smiling? Gives me the chills just thinking about it.” He faked a shiver and grinned. He could only picture those wild Halloween masks the humans wore – the clowns and monsters with their never-ending smiles, and decided then that most definitely a smile would be worse.
Nodding, he spared a glance at the docks once more, eyes skimming the crates and boats. ”Typically, it is rather quiet here. I think Ghengis and his group do most of their transactions indoors rather than out in the open. Occasionally though they’ll be more than a handful out here hanging around. Just depends on the day. Today, you got lucky. You have perfect privacy, well, that is until I showed up.”
He could tell his compliment caught her off guard, and he smirked. ”Welcome.” He replied, though he shrugged when she asked him about his name. ”I honestly don’t know. I think there is some human freak show with my name in the title, but I can’t be for sure if my mother named me after it or not.” If he was named after said show, he supposed it fit. There weren’t many cats with his markings, after all.

An easy and amused laugh bubbled up her throat at Ripley's exaggerated shiver. Nodding and finding herself agreeing with the idea that, yes a never-ending smile sounded more unsettling. "You're right. And the perpetual grimace sounds like it hurt your cheeks much less."
Avid attention to the tom's words, because unsurprisingly Lectra hadn't known much about Ghengis' operations or where his transactions took place. Just that if there seemed to be a lot of his cats around that she didn't want to be. "I didn't know that. And as far as intrusions go your company isn't all that bad. Didn't even make me think of finding a different spot." She quipped easily. Some of the queen's drier humour able to come out with only one other cat to see it. No group for her to virtually disappear in.
It was nice.
Helped that Ripley didn't know her as the quiet one, didn't have the preconception of what a conversation with her was like. Beyond perhaps the stereotype of what a Jellicle was but that was irrelevant.
"I don't exactly see how you'd be named after a freakshow? I mean bones aren't all that weird. Maybe it was just the sound of the name?" It sounded justifiable enough as a reason to name a kit. A name based on nothing more than how that name sounded. It wasn't as if all of their names had some deep meaning.

"Oh yes, they're rather uppity. Mostly pure breeds. From what I've heard, Ghengis likes his company to be pretty." He smirked, eyebrows raising suggestively. The smirk quickly turned into a grin. Had he been sitting beside her, he would have probably elbowed her too. "Ha-ha. Very funny. Well, I am glad I didn't run you off. Wouldn't want to disturb her royal highness," he joked.
"Ah, well..." Ripley began, releasing a sigh and a soft chuckle. "Neither of my parents necessarily wanted me when I was conceived, so if I was named after a freak show, it would fit, being the undesired child and all." Ripley didn't seem all that bothered by it. While it was left unsaid, Ripley tried to forget the majority of his past, and his parents with it. " Enough about me though...have you always been jellicle?" Ripley had heard that the majority of the tribe was made up of small family units, or outside well-to-do cats that had a head into the tribe. Of course, that was all here-say. He really had no clue. While he didn't want to assume, he didn't figure that Electra was one of those well-to-do house cats. It wasn't the vibe he got.
