Name: Munkustrap; AKA Munk, Munkus, or Straps
Gender: Male
Age: Young Adult (25)
Tribe: Jellicle
Tribe Position: Tribal Chief of the Protectors
Family: Old Deuteronomy-Father; Amara-Mother [Deceased]
Macavity- [Half] Brother
Let me know if you want to be related to him, just PM me.
Appearance: Munkustrap is one of the taller toms of the junkyard. Munkustrap's body is quite a bit muscular; though his muscles are well defined and proportion to the rest of his body type. He is not completely muscle-bound. His main work with exercises and training had been focused on developing his leg and arm strength. And yes while he is in a fight he does tend to rely more on his brute strength; he is still agile enough to evade most attacks coming his way.
Munkustrap has a youthful and rebellious face, contradictory to his personality. (Not saying Munkustrap isn't still youthful) He does have some lines around his eyes due to the stress of keeping the tribe safe, but has only enhanced his overall appearance, not diminished his handsome body type. He has high cheekbones, and has thinly shaped golden eyes. Munkustrap is renown for being that Silver Tabby. And to most, that's all his appearance will ever consist of.

Human Appearance: Matt Smith
Personality: Munkustrap has the legendary reputation for being a boy scout. But due to many of his faults, he is not sure how this reputation came to be. He is against injustice and will do whatever he can to make amends or put right the wrongs in the world. He's usually the first to volunteer to help someone out, even if it doesn't pertain to his job. And protects the tribe and the members in the tribe as if they were of his own flesh and blood. Even if he doesn't like a member personally, they're still a jellicle and that's enough for him to protect, and to aid. But those are the only traits he shares with the label 'Boy Scout'.' He supposes that is probably enough to peg him as one. [See Faults for argument against the Boy Scout title]
As stated above, Munkustrap is a very protective individual. Anyone, anyone he see's that is in danger, being picked on, or in need of help, he is there in a flash. Family, a friend, an acquaintance, a new jellicle, a jellicle he doesn't like, or a stranger are all on his list of those he's willing to put his own life on the line to save. He is a tom of principles. And it compels him to help and to protect, even if dislikes an individual, he'll still offer his assistance and protect that individual with his life if they are in need of it. The silver tabby is also an honest tom. He has never cheated, and when he does attempt to lie; because he does it so infrequently; it is quite obvious when he is lying. Munkustrap also is against the wrongdoings that exist in the world. Anything that Munkustrap feels is an injustice that went unnoticed, captures his attention.
Seeing those that have done wrong get punished for those said crimes is a passionate subject for Munkustrap. He doesn't want vengeance or revenge to be enacted, he just wants justice to be handed to them. With Macavity in power, Munk see's too much of bad things happening to good cats while bad cats keep getting rewarded. And while in principle, Munkustrap is an idealist and right, the silver tabby tends to forget that the world isn't black and white. When his passions overtake him, Munkustrap see's the situation in front of him in black and white; Cat A is good and needs help, while Cat B is wrong and needs a punch in the face and a lesson. He is also not above lecturing others the moral points of stories, as well as right from wrong, but these lecture's tend to be reserved for the younger generation.
Faults: It is widely known, or assumed, that Munkustrap is a workaholic. He quite often face-plants himself into his duty and work, searching for any opportunity to get out there to patrol, or insert himself into a fight. As expected, this leaves little to no room for social endeavors. Munkustrap doesn't have a problem with being social, but he prefers his job over dating and lasting friendships, and always has. To say that he does his job purely from the joy of saving a life or protecting one, would only be a half truth. He's addicted to his job, and in a way, its an escape for him.
He gets recognition and is seen as a hero without having to socialize. Plus, he is of the mindset that he'd need to quit his job in order to have best friends, good relations with his family and a mate. He's married to his work and doesn't want to change status quo. Munkustrap does have the problem of 'bringing his work home'. When he's not on duty or responsible for anyone, he can still give orders, be bossy and expect that what he says will be done in an orderly fashion. He's not a tyrant, however.
Munkustrap also has the ego that comes with his position. And is partly why he will give orders or boss others around even when he is off duty. It has also given him the deposition of him always being right. Or rather, Munkustrap always thinks he is right. He tends to do this more when he's off duty, and relies more on the other protectors to come to a consensus. However, in the everyday matters, due to his experience "Out in the World", he has determined that he knows what is what.
Describing word: Protective
History: Amara, was a solid silver queen, and Munkustrap's mother. She had become part of the Jellicle tribe when she was in her twenties, and it wasn't long before she caught the eye of Deuteronomy. However, it was several years before she became pregnant with Deuteronomy's second son. Unfortunately, Amara was a very petite queen and didn't maintain a healthy diet during her risky pregnancy. She was too frail and didn't survive the labor, but the healers of the tribe had worked for hours and were able to save the newborn Munkustrap. Munkustrap was not born a premmie, but due to the complications of his birth, his size was quite small and fragile. The healers at the time had kept a round the clock watch on him, and after several weeks he was finally out of the woods. From then on, he had a normal childhood, grew up normally, and had no further complications to his health.
His early childhood was predictable. He looked up to and followed his older brother Macavity around. He wanted his love, attention and of course his approval. However, for whatever reason he never could accomplish such basic concepts, as Macavity actively avoided him when he wasn't around their father and when Munk did spend time with him, Mack seemed to detest his very presence. At such a young age, Munk came to the only logical conclusion, he had done something wrong. It was why Macavity didn't like him, and why his own father ignored him in favor of spending time on and training his older brother. He did what he could to gain the attention of his father and his brother, but they always seemed to backfire. When he wasn't being excused as a curious kitten, the elders and his father would show disappointment in him. This was around the time resentment really began to set in, both directed at Macavity and at Deuteronomy. Though his resentment for his father only came out as jealousy over Macavity. So while he had buried resentment over suspecting Deuteronomy playing favorites with Macavity, Macavity got the brunt of all his negative emotions.
When he started getting older and noticing just how alone he was; a father who spent all his free time away from him, an older brother who avoided him, no mother, and no friends...he began to act out, as anyone would. He was desperate for any affection. He would often spy on Macavity, however this only furthered his resentment towards him. So much so that Munk had made the conscious choice to discredit his older brother and become Deuteronomy's new favorite. He didn't exactly want to be the favorite son, what he really wanted was to be noticed, but at the age of twelve, he figured the only way to get noticed was to metaphorically crush Macavity and take his place. He grew even more jealous when he saw how charming and social Macavity could be with the other kittens and cats, specifically when Macavity had befriended Rumpus. He saw them have the relationship he deep down had always desired to have with Macavity. Feeling like he had been replaced and betrayed, Munk actively sought to undermine and ruin Macavity at every turn. It started off little, he wasn't old enough to be too devious.
Munkustrap would create obstacles or send Macavity to someone in need of help, so he'd wind up late to his training sessions with Deuteronomy. And when Deuteronomy would praise Mack for putting off his training for the good of the tribe, Munk started to get more inventive. Things only got worse, when the Rum Tum Tugger, a tom he wasn't even related to began to eat up at Deuteronomy's time. Munk felt Deuteronomy was being more of a father and giving 'his' time away to the yards troublemaker; Tugger. He grew to resent Macavity and Tugger, but while he couldn't lash out at Tugger, he refocused his plans to discredit Macavity. He would distract Macavity and once or twice would steal herbs from the infirmary (not enough to be noticeable) in order to put Mack asleep; thus making him late for his training sessions with Deuteronomy, with no good reason. This is how it all started, very small and ultimately something that wouldn't be a big deal, if it had stopped there. Deuteronomy only seemed to be more determined to get Macavity back on the right track and spent more time with his first son. Seeing how it backfired, Munkustrap upped his game. He started doing things to Rumpus, making him seem like trouble and that he was a bad influence on Macavity. Bad enough that it effected Macavity as well and Deuteronomy began to pay him negative attention. It wasn't exactly what Munk wanted, as he still felt like he wasn't getting the attention he deserved. But seeing Deuteronomy angry and disappointed with Macavity filled some sort of hole Munk had.
Events took a turn for the worst, when Munk had set up for Rumpus and Macavity to get into a fight. It was a big spectacle that caused a stir, but it was also based on a misunderstanding. Munkustrap was jealous of their friendship and didn't handle it well. But he was setting up to have further animosity between them, so that Deuteronomy would either force Macavity to spend time with his younger brother (not wanting Rumpus bad influence corrupting him any longer) or start paying attention to him and cast Macavity aside as a lost cause. It didn't make much sense, but as Munkustrap was still quite young, it only had to make sense to him. Munkustrap hadn't expected Macavity and Rumpus to see their fight for the misunderstanding it was, or to make up and become friends again. He knew pursuing a rift between the two friends would not work and no one would believe that either one was behind anymore hostilities. Munk took refuge in an abandoned den to collect his thoughts. He was understandably upset that he'd never have a close relationship with his older brother and that Rumpus had effectively replaced him for that role. And he was upset over knowing that Deuteronomy saw Macavity as the rightful heir without even a passing look to him. The silver tabby had started a small fire in the den, as it was quite chilly and he had no blankets or anything to cover up in. He wondered for the first time, getting warm by the fire if he should just accept things the way they were and try to get along with what he had.
It was the last thoughts on his mind before he smothered the fire and curled up and fell asleep. Unfortunately, a few flames hidden from view under one of the sticks hadn't gotten put out and Munkustrap woke a few hours coughing from all the smoke he had inhaled. The silver tabby was surrounded by fire on all sides, there was no way to get out of the den and parts of what made up the roof of the den had already collapsed around him. He was effectively trapped and Munkustrap couldn't even cry out for help, over the constant coughing. Luckily, one of the older jellicles, and one of the protectors of the yard had rushed over when he saw the smoke rising up from a section of the junkyard. Sampson had seen the wreckage of one of the dens, and he almost hadn't seen or heard Munkustrap, but he entered the fire, getting burned almost instantly upon entrance when he heard the coughing. Seeing Deuteronomy's son cowering close to one of the walls and coughing, he ignored his own burns and made his way over to Munk. Munk had gotten singed and was on fire when he got closer and he used his own body to smother the flames and protect Munkustrap. It had just happened, before he had entered the den, so Munk's burns weren't bad. Sampson used his body as a shield to keep any more flames from touching the silver tabby and made it out of the den safely. Others had soon arrived and were able to put the fire out to keep it from spreading.
Sampson however suffered too many burns over his body and hadn't survived long. Deuteronomy had been worried over Munkustrap and wouldn't let him go. Munkustrap still has the burn marks on his flesh, but his fur as since grown out and covered them. Munk knew he had put the fire out, so he suspected someone must have gone in and relit it when he was asleep. Munk didn't dare tell Deuteronomy he had made a fire to begin with, because he suspected he'd be blamed for Sampson's death. Munk believed and in his scared state of mind even openly accused Macavity of starting the fire; claiming "He's always hated me!" Though a part of Munkustrap (as he grew up and got older, always wondered and blamed himself for Sampson's death). Nothing was the same after that, and the hate and contempt Macavity and Munkustrap always had for each other grew to astronomical heights after the fire and became something of public knowledge. Neither tom kept it hidden or suppressed after that and openly showed their disdain for each other. This eventually led to others taking sides and Munkustrap began taking on a leadership role and for the first time others listened to him. Almost overnight, Munkustrap became a natural leader and half the jellicles would listen to him rather then Macavity when he'd talk or give out tactical advice.
About the only good thing to come from Sampson's death, was Munkustrap grew interested in becoming a protector. He took to it like it was something he was born to do or always meant to do and really began to shine in the role as a protector in training. Him gaining this status and being so naturally good at it, only served to be another bone of contention between Macavity and Munkustrap. And this rivalry and hate between them only escalated. [The rest of this paragraph will detail whatever happens between Macavity, Munkustrap, Deuteronomy and anyone else that ends in Macavity's exile. That event is still Pending]
Shortly after Macavity's exile, Munkustrap found an easy friend in Ryder and saw a lot of potential in him. He also was starved for a close relationship, that he never got growing up. Plus, Ryder had recently cut off all ties with his twin brother, Tugger, so Munk and he had a lot in common. Munkustrap personally vouched for Ryder and they grew close. He trained with Ryder and helped him become a better protector. Unfortunately, during a routine patrol, pollicle dogs had gotten the jump on them. They were just freshly out of training and had become official protectors when they found themselves in a tussle with feral dogs just outside Jellicle territory. Munkustrap tried his best to fight off the dogs, figuring if they worked together they could hold their own until they were able to distract the dogs and then run when they had the chance. However, Ryder had froze in fear and there was no way for Munk to handle them on his own. It was when he got slashed pretty badly and flung down to the ground, that Ryder snapped out of his fear and his training took over. It was too late, Munk couldn't get back up on his own to help and Ryder was outmatched. Ryder did his best to protect and save Munkustrap but Ryder was killed and his dead body had fallen on top of the silver tabby. Just before Munk lost consciousness, he had seen Rumpus phase out of the shadows and start fighting the dogs.
Munkustrap had woken up hours later, with Ryder's dead body still on top of him. Munk found it ironic that the tom he grew up hating almost as much as Macavity was probably the only reason he woke up at all. Regretfully, he brought Ryder's dead body back to the yard, and they had a funeral for him. He gave a gist of what had happened, but wasn't big on details, nor did he mention Rumpus' role at the end; simply that Ryder died a hero, protecting him. After that, Munkustrap kept to himself, and refused to get close to anyone ever again, the pain was too much to cope with, and he immersed himself in his work. Ryder was another tom's death that Munk blamed himself for, and making his life all about his work seemed like the only way he could keep history repeating itself a third time. Munk knows death is inevitable, but if he's good at his job, no more deaths will end up being HIS fault. Munkustrap has stayed this way for the past several years, and being the protector and pretty much nothing else is working for him, and he doesn't see that changing any time soon.
RP Sample: Munkustrap's face was line in quite contemplation. A diversion; It was a sound tactical strategy, but if the layout and the details of the mission were as vague as they were now, it was also risky. He had hoped that Owen would have had something solid and schematics more recent then the ones they had now, and had been optimistic that they would have heard more solid intel from others in the streets. The silver tabby knew he should have sent Keiiji out on a recon mission; he wasn't trustworthy, but he would have given them more detailed and true information (For a fee) then what he was hearing now. "Not like we've never improvised before. No matter what we end up facing, a diversion is our best bet of getting into the building and rescuing those queens."
He did notice Teazer's nervous smile, as well as Tumble's reaction beside the petty thief. He wasn't completely comfortable leaving those two alone as a distraction and running bait, but he wasn't going to turn down their help nor was he going to ignore them volunteering for the job either. "Alright, so when we get there, Rumpleteazer and Tumblebrutus will provide the distraction. If anyone can get their attention and hold it, it's you two. Though I expect both of you in one piece after the mission." He debated whether or not to keep Grumbuskin or Alonzo with them as well, knowing either one would keep the two younger cats safe, but he felt he could trust Tumble to watch Teazer's back, and vice verse.
"Grumbuskin, and Alonzo are with me. We'll head in through the back, while I trust CP and Chromie to slip in through the front. That way at least one of the groups will make it to the queens if the other group should encounter any unforeseen problems."
Comments: Just redoing his history.
*Also, Munkustrap has never been a flirt and has never shown any interest in queens or even toms for that matter. He's currently "mated" to his work; and the thought of courting anyone or settling down has never entered his mind.
