Tumble blinked several times, rather thrown off balance by PB's abrupt exit. But then, that was rather the Siamese's way, wasn't it? "Ahhm, hi, PB. Bye, PB," he managed to get out in rapid succession as the other young tom bowed out. He gave a slight laugh, wondering what friends PB had to meet. Maybe the two of them should talk...PB might know some folks who could be helpful to Tumble... Shrugging his shoulders, he brought himself back to the situation at paw. Rolling his eyes at that last remark, "competition"? And Tugger seemed to agree? "Ohh, come off it, Tug," he protested, giving the older tom a good-natured shove in the arm. Tumble was sure there was no way he even thought about flirting with queens as much as Tugger, and certainly was no comparison to the Tugger's charms. Sure he admired the tom and wished to be like him sometimes - well, what young tom didn't? But Tumble was more the Impressive Acrobat or I-Will-Seduce-You-With-My-Awkwardness type, if anything... If PB and Tugger were implying there was any competition for...well, for this new queen, for example... Tearing himself away from these thoughts which were beginning to make him feel decidedly uncomfortable, Tumble at last remembered that he still hadn't officially introduced himself to Maria - hadn't asked for her name, either, but, well, at least PB had taken care of that for him.
"Oh yes, there are plenty more interesting things to do," he added, glancing down at his paw having just remembered the few scraps he was still holding. "Nice to meet you!" he said to Maria, turning to her somewhat awkwardly. Seeing as the other two toms had already said both their names, simply saying "I'm Tumble" would be weird, wouldn't it? "I've seen you about the 'yard but not yet had the chance to say hello! So, er...hello. Would..." He held out a scrap of meat. "Would you like a bit of beef? You too, Tugger?"
It did occur to him that the two might ask where he got the meat...but, after all, they weren't the elders. So what if they did ask? Tumble doubted they'd try to stop him going about the city.

Maria was surprised to see Peanut Butter leave so quickly, but she nodded to him and waved her tail in a silent farewell. She couldn't suppress a snort of amusement at the tom's final words before his leave. Toms were so silly sometimes, seeing everything as a competition of some sort. She would never understand that mindset. Shaking her head slightly at Tugger's response, she considered his idea.
"Nice to meet you too, Tumble." she said at the tom's awkward greeting. At his offer, she nodded. "Thanks Tumble, I could do with some breakfast, much appreciated." she purred and began to eat the chunk of meat. "Say." she started between bites. "What do you cats usually do around here? I'm open to any ideas you two might have."

((I exited PB out because Stubinz is taking a little break from RPing right now, and I'm not comfortable RPing PB full time. Sorry. And yes, that posting order seems fine to me. ^_^))
Tugger liked to humor the kitten, but by Tumble's assessing and perplexing stare, he hadn't quite understood his meaning. Tugger found himself amused by Tumble's scrutiny and couldn't help a little jab at the patched tom. "Is there something you see, that you like?" The black and blonde leopard readjusted his vest as he unconsciously made sure his fur was still in place and properly groomed. He watched Tumble offer Maria and himself some beef. Tugger snorted softly under his breath, his mind immediately thinking of the innuendo. Still his amused smirk was replaced by a genuine grin. "Hey thanks, man. I am quite hungry." He took the meat in his paw and began to tear at the piece. His mouth was quite full when Maria asked her next question, and he shrugged his shoulders. "Don't look at me. I usually hit the streets for my entertainment. Perhaps Tumble's better to answer that question. Or do you hit the streets too?" His words were slightly muffled, with the half eaten meat still inside his mouth. His last question was directly mainly at Tumblebrutus. He suspected he snuck out onto the streets, but he didn't have proof, nor did he really care. He had a separate life on the streets, then in the junkyard, why shouldn't Tumble?

Tumble rolled his eyes but otherwise ignored Tugger's amused look and question as to whether he saw anything he liked. Concentrating on the meat, "It's delicious," he assured the other two felines, biting into his own piece with relish. He paused, considering Maria's question as to "what they did for fun," and then Tugger's guess that Tumble, like himself, spent time on the streets. Well, that escalated quickly. Though he knew these two wouldn't care if he spent time on the streets or not, what if Jelly or Jenny accused him of setting a bad example for the new queen...? Ah, pah, what if they did?
Shrugging, he gave a casual nod. "Yeah, I hit the streets occasionally," he acknowledged, unconsciously mimicking Tugger's tone. His eyes narrowed slightly and he went on in a somewhat more serious tone, "Not always for entertainment, though..." Trailing off, Tumble wondered how to go on. He didn't want to sit here and explain everything about his reasons for traveling the streets, his wish to find out about his father, and all that messiness. Maria he hardly knew, and Tugger would probably make fun of him or something. But surely there could be a way to discreetly find out if Maria knew anything interesting... "How about you? Spent much time on the streets yourself?" he asked Maria, in what he hoped was a tone of nonchalance.

Maria glanced from Tugger to Tumble when Tugger said the other tom might be the better one to ask. It didn't surprise her that the cats around here liked to wander the streets in search of fun, it must get pretty boring here, after all. Still, she much preferred the safety of the 'Yard. She nodded. "Well, I'm not surprised, but the streets I'm dangerous. I am surprised at the fact you're allowed to wander them freely."
She wondered what Tumble meant by "not for entertainment", but didn't ask further, knowing he'd say it if he wished. Instead, she focused on his question. "Yes, I was born there, in fact, so I now quite a bit about them. Not every nook and cranny, but a decent amount. But it's not safe...Hench Cats prowl them constantly, as well as dogs..." At the word dog, a shiver went down her spine and she visibly shivered for a moment. "But yes, they can be fun sometimes, they just haven't been for me."

Tugger finished eating his piece of beef, feeling a sense of hunger with the little bit of food he had eaten. He did shrug his shoulders as he sauntered over and leaned against the side of the tire, his body naturally going into an alluring stance. "Going into the city or exploring beyond the junkyard isn't exactly forbidden, but it isn't something the elder's or the old man like us doing either." Granted Old Deuteronomy wasn't his father, but the tom had taken it upon himself to discipline him from time to time, so he had gotten into the habit of calling him 'the old man' from a fairly young age. Not that he was all that close with him, however.
His eyes did flick away at the mention of dogs, having lost his twin brother to a pollicle attack, but it was a brief movement and not enough to really alert anyone that anything was wrong. "So you're looking for entertainment in the yard. Well we have the occasional party. We also have the Jellicle Ball once a year, it's our biggest event, and pretty spectacular."

Tumble deflated slightly at Maria's response to his question. But, well, what had he expected anyway? All anyone could talk about was how "dangerous" the streets were. Of course they were dangerous! But it wasn't much safer inside the 'yard, was it? Hadn't Macavity attacked multiple times with near disasters? Can't protect everyone from everything all the time...
Shrugging his shoulders, Tumble tilted his ear toward Tugger, attending to what he was saying about entertainment in the 'yard. He brightened slightly at the talk of parties and the Ball. Macavity attacks aside, that had been the most fun he'd had in his short life. And soon it would be time to start thinking up new acrobat tricks for the next one...
"Oh, yeah it is," he agreed when Tugger had done. "Music, dancing, electric lights! You'll love it," he assured the queen. "And somecats share special tricks and talents...it's the best night of the year! Not that...the rest of the year is boring. Everyone makes their own fun one way or another..." He somewhat awkwardly tacked on that last, feeling he'd been so preoccupied with his street wanderings that he'd made the 'yard itself sound boring. Wouldn't want the new queen to think nothing ever happened here.

"Well, I can understand why the elders don't want you outside of the yard. But I also know it may feel limiting to the cats here." She flicked her tail in amusement and her whiskers twitched briefly. "How has it been here lately, anyone want to update me?" she asked the toms, her gaze shifting from one to the other. Frankly, she needed information. Since she arrived, everyone had been nothing but kind, but it felt odd to her to be living somewhere without any knowledge of prior events she needed to be aware of, or any rules for that matter, she realized. "And anyway, what are the rules and roles around here?" She only knew of the leader and protector roles, but nothing else.
She perked up at the mention of the Ball. "Oh, really? I've heard talk about it, but I don't know much. By the way you described it, Tumble, it sounds amazing! Don't the humans around here mind it, though?" she asked curiously, imagining humans yelling at the Jellicles and their antics. She suppressed a laugh.

The tall and lean tom stretched his back legs out. His thigh and calf muscles (what little he had) flexed and his back arched in an almost sexual way. Taking a short inhale of breath he leaned his head against the tire and turned slightly so he could look at Maria and Tumble more easily. He was also choosing to be on the lazy side, but he wasn't tired enough to hop up and lay down next to Maria. "You're quite perceptive for a kitten." There was no animosity to his tone, though Tugger's clear blue eyes held an intensity to them as he studied the small queen. A flirty and laid-back smile finally spread out across his face. His blue eyes landed on Tumble briefly before he stared out at the junkyard beyond them. He didn't mind that she was perceptive, as long as she didn't psycho-analyze him or make assumptions pertaining to himself. And he did agree that the elders did kind of make the yard seem limiting, but for Tugger it was much more then that.
The yard, his home growing up, what should have been a safe haven. Well no one had protected him when he needed it most; the jellicles had let the darkness of the streets into the yard, into his den, and did nothing to help him. Though his biggest nightmare no longer roamed through the junkyard, he supposed the yard would always be tainted for him. He still came by and spent a lot of his time here, but there was always something to remind him. His eyes roamed the edges of their territory and his eyebrows creased in thought when Maria asked about rules and commented about humans coming by and bothering them. "Rules?" Tugger snorted at the mere suggestion; not able to keep a straight face for it. "What rules? there are rules to follow around here, Tumblebrutus?"
He did shake his head before he added in all seriousness. "As for humans, we rarely get bothered. We're in a junkyard, it's not exactly the central hub of the city. There's only a couple buildings that are sort of nearby the edge of the junkyard, and they are old and abandoned. If you ever go exploring, these buildings are rotted through and falling apart, so you'd best step lightly. Really, the only time we have to worry is when humans walk by and throw their trash into our walls. But as you can see, we make good use of their unwanted junk. Those noisy cars zoom by frequently as well, but other then that..." Tugger trailed off, then shook his head like it wasn't a big deal. "Nope. I usually only come across humans when I'm out on the streets."

Tumble nodded along as Tugger spoke, glad the conversation had turned somewhat to be more centered on humans at the moment. When Maria asked 'how things had been here lately,' Tumble'd been half-inclined to mention the Macavity attacks during the Ball--if for no other reason than that, besides the Ball itself, the attacks were the most interesting or important thing that had gone on here recently. True, Munkustrap was apparently off on some rescue mission as well, but Tumble didn't know enough for that to make an interesting topic. In any case, he decided against mentioning anything of the kind. It would be more of a downer anyway, and why not keep this conversation more on the fun side? That was what the Jellicles needed more of, was fun. Somecats focused far too much on serious things...
He chuckled when Tugger snarkily asked about "rules." "Heh, far as I know, the only official rules are 'have fun,' 'don't die,' and 'don't leave your mouse bones in someone else's den.'" He wrinkled his nose in mock concentration. "Have I forgotten any? Oh and as for the humans," he added, looking at Maria, "I agree, they mostly don't pay any mind to us. But there are rare times they do, and sometimes it's hilarious..." He grinned at Tugger. "Remember when one threw a shoe at us?" Truth told, it had probably just been another ordinary 'throwing-their-trash-into-our-walls' incident, but that wasn't nearly as fun an idea. "I'm sure it was just because you sang a sour note, Tug'."

Maria chuckled lightly as Tugger said she was perceptive, laying her head on her paws and closing her eyes to rest them. "You gotta be perceptive in life, it help with judging cats, at least my mother said so." She opened her eyes to look at both toms in turn with a mischievous glint in her brown eyes. "And from what my perception's telling me, you two are good cats, possibly rule-breakers?" she guessed. To her, both of them gave off the vibe of troublemakers at times and she noted to herself to try not to get in trouble along with them.
"Some great rules you have around here, very straight-forward, I never would've guessed I wasn't allowed to die, gee." The queen's whiskers twitched. "It's a good thing the place is laid-back somewhat, I won't miss the stress of the streets, I'll tell you that." She was glad to hear the humans barely came to the yard. She'd had enough of them and their loud dogs. "Good, no humans, then? That's a relief. Wait, they threw a shoe at you guys? Oh, wish I'd seen that, do tell." she said to Tumble, urging him to go on.
