Griddlebone strutted her way through the warehouse. It had been oddly quiet lately, at least by her standards. The normal day to day running were running smooth enough - which meant boring and uneventful and little to pique the white persian's interest. However perhaps some excitement could be found in the lobby. Cats coming and going probably held the most opportunity for some kind of amusement. Upon first entrance into the lobby there wasn't too much in ways of entertainment, though some did claim patience to be a virtue. Perhaps it was needed in this instance. So she decided to settle herself and primp a bit while waiting for something, anything to happen.

Fangorn made his way back into the warehouse, just the hint of a satisfied smirk decorating his features. Can't wait to report this to the boss... He'd been doing some lurking about that Jellicle place called the Junkyard and noticed a few interesting things. At the moment hardly any of their protectors were about, for one. Additionally, they appeared to just be coming out of some sort of crisis, based on the snippets he'd heard. The cats that remained were not exactly being watchful as they waited for the others to return. Surely Macavity would be pleased to hear of this...
Noticing Griddlebone as he walked by, he stopped and greeted the white Persian queen cordially. "Good day, Miss Griddlebone. Anything of interest going on?"

It was almost disappointing that she even had to seek out any kind of amusement to break the mundane of recent days passed. Normally the warehouse was lively with no shortage of spectacles or scandalous goings ons. This dry spell of boredom wasn't normal and definitely wasn't what Griddlebone enjoyed. She wanted something to happen. Had she been content with a quiet life the white queen would have shacked up with the goody Jellicles. Though it did help that her current leader was enigmatic and apparently immune to her charms. Almost to the point of pouting over her boredom and almost as if she'd conjured him up Fangorn appeared,
See the lobby had been a good choice. She laughed lightly waving dismissively at his question "Not at all! It's been rather dull lately, unfortunately that's applied to more than some choice cats. But you look like you might have something much more fun and dare I venture exciting?"

Fangorn nodded sympathetically when Griddlebone mentioned how 'dull' things had been lately. It had been grating on his own nerves as well, which was partly why he had gone off on his own to find something useful to do. The reason he'd joined with the henchcats in the first place, after all, was because he thought them a 'band of action.' He of course knew there couldn't be something going on constantly, but part of him still held on to his old kittenish ideal.
He allowed himself a slight grin when Griddle asked if he had found something exciting. However, he proceeded with some caution, as he did not know for certain what his 'findings' meant; and besides, he really ought to give the Leader a report before blabbing about it among the ranks. No harm in sharing a bit, vaguely, at least. "Possibly. That remains to be seen. However, I can say that it seems our dear neighbours are not in prime condition at the moment."

Oh Griddlebone was certainly hoping that Fangorn would be able to relieve her of the boredom plaguing the warehouse. So many of the cats here were all about action, so something, anything must be going on right? Sometimes the cats here managed to make the smallest of slights turn into a larger - and more entertaining - spectacle. Surely she wasn't the only restless one?
"Oh that is interesting." She almost crooned, but only having 'not in prime condition' as a qualifier only meant so much. Sure another cat could spend their time musing away and unraveling different possibilities. Gridd didn't have the patience for that. "Sit for a spell? I'm sure there's something else we could find worth talking about?" She proposed, straightening a bit and patting the seat beside her, doubting that Fangorn would say anymore considering his phrasing.

Fangorn nodded, thankful Griddlebone had chosen not to press the matter. However, he also regretted that he as yet had done or said nothing to help relieve her boredom. His smile broadened as she invited him to sit down and talk.
"Gladly," he agreed, taking the proffered seat. Macavity could wait for a little while, after all. One couldn't abandon a queen, especially not one suffering from ennui as Griddle seemed to be. "Care for a bit of something?" he added, glancing down at a pair of mice he'd caught on the way. They'd hung limply in his paw, momentarily forgotten, but now that they returned to his attention it occurred to him he was quite hungry. Perhaps Griddlebone was, as well. "Nothing like a little snack to accompany conversation."

Fangorn's smile was good, to her, it meant that he'd likely indulge her request for company and perhaps help her relieve her boredom. Her smile was inviting and warm in response to his. The persain readjusted her posture, to be lounging a little less so that the tom might have enough space to actually sit without doing so on her. Had that situation been reversed it wouldn't be too bad.
"Oh, that's rather gentlemanly of you Fangorn. I'm quite pleasantly surprised to see this side of you." She complimented, daintily choosing the smaller of the two mice. "Is the city just as quite as the warehouse seems to be?"

Fangorn bit into his mouse, chewing slowly and thoughtfully as he considered Griddlebone's question.
"Not so very quiet," the patched tom answered once he had done chewing and swallowing. "Certainly not as far as those human creatures are concerned. They've always got something or other happening. For example, I passed by two having an argument - apparently one's dog had got into the other's garden, or some such nonsense." He chuckled softly. Humans did get their fur in knots over the silliest things. True, Fang understood the importance of territory and boundaries, but could one expect a dumb Pollicle to remember that all the time? "And of course there were quite a few cats milling about," he added, worried a humans' tiff wouldn't be all that interesting to Griddlebone. "Passed by several rubbish-bins that are usually good eating, but they were well picked-over. Hence the mice instead - much fresher in any case." He paused, giving the queen a sidelong glance. He couldn't help wondering if he was putting her to sleep with these everyday matters. Truly, none of it was all that exciting, but it was something to talk about - which was more than could be said for the warehouse at the moment.
"Ventured much into the city lately, yourself?" he inquired.

At least someone was finding amusement, Griddlebone rolled her eyes at the humans' nonsense. Of course, territory was important but human never seemed to be able to make up their mind on the matter; sometimes it didn't matter at all and others any 'trespassing' was a large offense to them. Odd creatures. And expecting a pollicle to know better? Even without making up their own minds? "Not the brightest at times, but I do suppose you are right. They do seem to always be up to something or other that is at least worth a passing interest. Although I am unsure how they expected more from a pollicle, but.." She trailed off slightly with a small shrug. "Fresher is so often better. Anyone saying otherwise is a fool." The white queen commented dismissively as she bit into the mouse, careful to not make a mess of herself. That simply wouldn't do at all.
"Here and there, but it seems my usual haunts are much too quiet for my liking. It's almost odd that there's been so little activity lately, perhaps something is about to stir up some type of commotion?" Gridd mused towards the ends, wondering and half hoping that there was something brewing about in the city. What use was it to make sure she looked perfect for a trip into th ecity only to find nothing?

Fangorn nodded, a slight smirk on his face. "Sometimes," he confided, "I think humans and pollicles share about the same level of intelligence - getting obnoxiously excited over what makes them happy, then unreasonably angry over the tiniest things." He frowned. "But then, with the humans it mostly seems to be an act - they can certainly turn around and be very sly and clever when they wish...had a few narrow escapes from being carted off to the animal shelter, for example." Shrugging this off, he considered her comment that something was about to 'stir up a commotion.' He certainly hoped that was the case. "It could be," he agreed. "We could certainly all stand a bit of commotion - break up the monotony that's gone on far too long."

A soft delicate snort of amusement, "I wouldn't be surprised to find that they do. At least generally, a few moments of cleverness don't truly outweigh their simplicity. Just an exception I would guess." She'd almost wave off the idea of them clever as a collective. Easily fooled in her experience will a bit of supposed affection. "I doubt humans would have gotten this far if all them were as simple as pollicles. Despite that I'm quite certain they wouldn't be able to hold you in some shelter for long"
"Yes, yes we could. Though I am almost weary over what commotion would have this kind of quiet precede it, though that could easily be me giving it much more credit than it deserves."

Fangorn couldn't help feeling rather pleased at Griddlebone's confidence that humans couldn't hold him in an animal shelter for long even if they could catch him. He tried not to appear too pleased, though, and gave a thoughtful "hmm" as the Persian queen expressed apprehension that any "commotion" coming up soon might be worse than the current state of quiet. He couldn't say he necessarily agreed - in his mind, any commotion could only be a relief after this. "I suppose it does appear a bit ominous," he nodded, "but I'm confident we can withstand anything that comes our way. Whether the Jellicles try something - well, they aren't exactly known for getting the better of us, and would have even more difficulty if they're in some sort of trouble of their own as I suspect. If humans - well, we've just been discussing how little there is to worry about on that score," he chuckled. Turning more serious again, he added, "And if it's trouble from some other direction that we haven't considered yet... The boss will be sure to adapt and come up with a strategy."

Oh Gridd could definitely tell that her comment had pleased Fangorn. Good, it was meant to. So let him preen with no kind of rebuke or anything of the sort from the white queen. The compliment had slipped out easily and done the job the words were meant to. A thoroughly amused and light laugh bubbled up her throat at even the idea of the Jellicles attempting some kind of attack on them.
The lot was too good, too moral fur such a thing to come out of the blue and with no kind of warning. "If the Jellicles attacked I fear it still wouldn't be enough excitement. Not with the disparities in the quality of our fighters. Why I'm certain you could take on most of their protectors by yourself. No kind of ferocity in them is there?" Griddlebone had seen ferocity, flirted with the bosses of some truly frightening fighters. Unless it was some kind of dance off what worry did they really have for the 'opposition'?
"Of course he will, hopefully one that leaves plenty of room for fun and excitement on our end."

Fang gave a slight smirk. "Not much ferocity at all," he agreed, thinking of the only protector he'd noticed about the Junkyard. Didn't know the tom's name, had only glimpsed him a pawful of times, but Fang got the impression of him more as a jumpy worried kit than any sort of fierce warrior. He considered relaying this to Griddlebone so they could have a laugh at the Jellicles' expense, but decided against it; after all, the reason he'd noticed the Jellicle's jumpiness was that he, Fang, had accidentally stepped on something and made a noise. He'd had to make a quick getaway as the Jellicle hurried over to investigate. Yeah, no way he was mentioning such an embarrassing mistake...
So he moved instead to what Gridd had said next, Macavity's creating a strategy that would allow for some "fun and excitement." "Naturally; surely he won't deprive us of any chance at facing a challenge head on and defeating it...or them." He rubbed his paws together in anticipation.
