Character Name: Old Deuteronomy (Old D, D, etc)
Tribal Affiliation: Jellicle
Tribal Position: leader
Age: guess
Gender: Male
Family: Mates....at leasy nine that he has outlived (and more I am tempted to say nintey nine)
Children: Munkustrap, Rum Tum Tugger, Macavity and MANY others over the years!
Physical Appearance:
a massive Norwigean Forest Cat with a shaggy coat of tan gray and brindle. his face and posture may be placid and almost bland but this is misleading!
when it is called for he can move and respond with the grace and power of his heritage.
Personality: benevolent and well loved by his "Children" Deutoronomy has a natural flair for leadership, an palpable charisma that can be a bit overwhelming and almost frighting at times, and can sometimes be sensed by sensitive cats even before he can be seen.
while not a genius he has a talent for choosing the right person for the right job...though when these choices go wrong they go FAR wrong.
Deuteronomy has a style and panache that complement his suave dignified manner.
contrary to the belief of some he in not infallible but when he makes a mistake his shoulders the responsibility for it.
he strongly believes in the concepts of caring for one another breeds strength and Might For Right NOT Might Makes Right. he has had some success teaching and encouraging them amongst the tribe....with a few notable exceptions.
Faults overconfidence and pride, these are his greatest failings. on occasion he will buy into the hype given off by a Tribe that trusts him implicitly and too often thinks that he can do little wrong. his pride will at times lead him to think that he is to blame for things that are not his or even truly anyone's fault. he is the leader, the responsibility IS HIS! and the downward spiral of brooding that is the result can and will lead to further mistakes.
describing word (well phrase....Feline Fearless Faithful and True.
History: far longer than many would be comfortable with, he has indeed lived MANY lives in succession and has forgotten more things than many others will ever know.
when the first wildcat befriended a Welshman...he was there. when the Witch Hunters burned his children he was there and mourned.
when Dick Whittington's cat was presented pregnant to the Moorish King HE was the sire.
when Lewis Carroll sat down and began to write it was Deuteronomy who sat by his side and grinned.
in the youth of his most recent incarnation he befriended a strapping a pair of young toms named Asparagus and Rytt. Deuteronomy and Asparagus had a grand friendly rivalry trying to top each others amorous escapades which all too often Rtt was called to judge the winner! all to soon he found himself as the father figure and leader to what would become a famous tribe.
while there have indeed been triumphs, such as the redemption and Choosing of Grizzabaella, he does have his regrets, his greatest is his failing with his wayward son Macavity. he is not sure just how things went so very wrong but Deuteronomy is sure that he is in some way to blame.
when Rytt lost his mate, his son AND Colsyn in one fell swoop he was there to support him and is pleased with Rytt's decision to move into the Junkyard.
Powers: other than the sheer force of his Personality he has been granted by Bastet, The Great Cat and other entitys the gift of The Jellicle Choice. all Cats live their Nine Lives however most must wait until the time is right and sometimes this wait can be a long one. however the recipiant of the Jellicle choice is reborn imediately. when granted somewhere in the city a pregnant cat will give birth and among those Kittens will be the recipiant of the Jellicle Choice!
RP the grandly proportioned tom eased himself onto the vicaridge wall overlooking a stretch of forest that hid a very particular Junkyard. he settled into a sunbeam. once comfortable he smiled down at the small brown tom that stood at the foot of the wall. "all right Owen give me the report," he said in a reasonable tone.
Owen coughed, "ahem yes Sir, Bomba and the others have dens ready for the party's return and are preparing the healers den as well." he answered.
Deutoronomy's smile broadend, "simply splendid! I will be coming to the yard soon to be there when they arrive!"
