as the stars winked into sight, the ones that could be seen through the lights of the city, Haversham climbed up onto the tire settling his thermos within easy reach inside the tire. true the slate on the roof of his cider block den near the gate would still be holding the days heat just as he had told young Rumpus, however the tire...the tire gave an unimpeded view of the Moon as she woke and showed her face to those bellow. and after everything that had happened the pudgy old gray tom felt a need to connect with Bast's Eye in the Heavens. he greeted her with an ancient wordless song in a clear mellow tenor.

Despite the stars in the sky and the rising moon, Trent's stride was as casual as ever. As per usual his headfur completely awry, partially due to the nap he'd woken up from only a couple hours ago. The brown tabby had meandered around the Yard for a little bit before becoming bored of that and the lack of others for him to socialize with, and leaving the Yard to saunter the streets of London was much too much of a bother to entertain the idea. So instead Trent banked on the idea that someone must be more towards the center clearing of the tribe's territory and so that's the direction he took.
And much to his pleasure his ears twitched at the sound of a voice, the notion of triumph at his idea panning out properly caused the brown tom's lip to curl up at the edges. Quietly climbing up the tire, he unceremoniously plopped himself onto it, using the dark rubber circle as a seat. "I'd join your song but I'm not very versed in... that."He was at a little bit of a loss of words to describe the wordless song.

the old gray tom turned to the young tom and smiled. "that's all right Lad, The Greeting of Bastset is from an era long ago and I would have been surprised if a young fella such as your own fine self had known of it!" he said. "how has the day treated you? I'd have thought that a young like you would have been off with Munkustrap and that lot."

It was no surprise that the 'song' was old. Most likely older then Trent was. The brown tabby shrugged, "I know of that particular mission but wasn't quite informed when it was to begin. And I'm not so sure how helpful I am in a planned fight." He commented offhandedly, seeming completely unaffected by essentially being left behind. Besides, it wasn't really as if many - if any - of the cats in the Yard had seen him actually get goaded into a fight. "Although that would explain the vacancy of the yard and subsequent boredom. And how'd your day treat you?"

"well enough, well enough, had some nice chats here and there." Haversham said. then the pudgy gray toms eyes twinkled as lifted up his thmos and added, "and I replenished my stock!"

Trent nodded along, a faint smile on his face as he more fully settled into his seated position and got comfortable. He laughed, "Restocking is always a fine thing and makes for a better day." He agreed.

the old gray cat chuckled, "oh that it can!" then he shook his head. "I do hope they return with their charges safe, we have had quite enough strife e abouts recently!" Haversham said. the pudgy tom pulled out his thermos, "will you have a wee tipple to toast their success?"

The brown tabby nodded, ignoring the strands of his haphazardly arrange mane falling in his face - it happened so often there were times he didn't even notice. "I'm sure they will, and commotion and worry will fade." He commented absently, leaving out his mentally added comment that there was a very possible chance they'd returned empty pawed. Though that thought was banished as he spied the thermos and a cheshire like grin made its way onto his face, "You certainly don't need to ask me twice."

Haversham nodded as he unscrewed the top of the thermos and poured in a small measure of rich black liquid that foamed white. he handed the cup to Trent "may the Moon smile on their path and yours," he said. then his eyes twinkled when he added "careful not to spill Lad, that is the finest stout, that is Guinness!"

Trent leisurely took the cup, his brow raised in amusement at the apparent dare he say respect towards the liquid. He took a sip, expression still very clearly amused and unaffected by Haversham's warning. "I'm sure there are those who disagree, different tastes and all." He commented offhandly before finishing the cup and handing it back. "Although if I ever need a favour now I know how to persuade you." He joked.

Haversham poured another and toasted as well, downing the pleasantly bitter liquid in one long go. "AHHHH! that you do my lad that you do! but then I come by the taste honestly, my mother was a Ships Cat on a freighter out of Dublin." the older tom said. then he shook his head, "thing is this makes the second or third of these Rescues in somant like two days, and a fire at one of them besides! bad business to get the Humans stirred up!" Haversham sighed, "but that tis not for the likes of you an Me to decide!"

The brown tabby observed the other tom, vague amusement still evident in his expression. Which was pretty much his standard expression. Haversham's mother being linked to Ireland definitely made sense with his respect for the beer, so maybe some of the stereotypes he'd been exposed to back home weren't all that far off from reality. Huh. The amusement faded at hearing how many rescues had happened recently, "What's got all the rescues happening? And a fire? Humans no doubt showed up to that one at some point." Now he was really curious.

the old gray tom shook his head and sighed, "well it started with Jelly runnin afoul of the Henches and that got it noticed that other Queens had dropped out of sight and from there the ball kept rolling. the fire was at some place where the humans were using them for experiments and someone started the fire to hide the rescue, not too subtle if you ask me, which they did not." then he shrugged and poured some more stout which he offered to Trent, "May the cycle turn soon and the next Lot be better."

The rescues from experiments was brand new news to Trent, although he had heard some frantic sounding conversations about missing queens. But Trent hadn't thought to take them to heart - sometimes cats needed some breathing room or time with their humans. "Human would have noticed either way. With a fire they can chalk it up to animal rights activists protesting the testing." He commented off handedly remembering hearing of similar things happening before he'd come to London. Human generally found something to get into a tizzy over. The brown tom took the drink and finished it before once again handing it back. "Bad things happen in threes, the cycle isn't over quite yet." He stated calmly, appearing to be completely unaffected by the notion.

Haversham nodded, "too true, though I was hoping that there might have been something of which I was not aware. and of course one old friend of mine that is sooo taken with 'The Good Folk' would say that the right offering in the right place might avert that." the old gray tom said. then he shrugged, "he also talks to ghosts all the time so there you are. perhaps old Gussie getting himself all scratched up may count."
