here is something that is just for fun! with the talk about a movie etc the idea of who would you cast seems like a fun one! here are the basic rules for our game, as a compleate Blue Sky exercise any actor living or dead as long as they can sing and dance. only having one or the other is acceptable depending on the role, Bustopher for example. if you can make a case for your choice, but most importantly the other thing is keep it friendly no slamming anyone else's choices.
to get the ball rolling here are some of mine....
Munkustrap= Donny Osmand
Old D = Zero Mostel, yes he was best known for his comedy but he has the physicality, that commanding bass voice AND he could look dignified in a costume that was basicly a shag carpet MuMu.
Skimbleshanks= Ray Bolger, a dancers dancer who can sing as well!
Gus= Milton Berl, Uncle Milty started out in Vaudvile who can sing and dance and given some of the outfits he wore in his acts a cat suit is no problem!
Jellylorum= Carol Burnette, you need some one strong enough to match Berl while playing a secondy character.
Cassandra= Catherine Zeta Jones, just look what she did in Chicago!
now lets hear from you!

Zero Mostel for Old D, I'm totally with you there!
I think for Munkus though, personally, I'd either go Viggo Mortenson, or Hu Ge, both are great young actors, with a good sense of humor {and both actually can sing, Hu Ge however dances!}
Gus: Bob Hope or Red Skelton come to mind
Tugger: Scott Speedman
Mac: Dwayne Johnson
Quaxo: Vin Diesel
I think I need to go to bed......

Hmm... Some ideas in my head at the moment... Old D - Hugh Jackman Munkustrap - Ramin Karimloo Mistoffelees - Aaron Tveit Tugger - Hadley Fraser Grizabella - Sierra Boggess Jemima - Emmy Rossum
Those are what I can think of at the moment... Still brainstorming... Hehe...
*looks at list* so yes, I admit, I have Les Mis and Phantom casts all over my brain at the moment, and this is what has come of it. Some of them I'm not totally certain of their dancing abilities, but most all of them have been in theatre for ages, so I find it hard to believe they've made it this far without having to gain at least some dance experience. As for Miss Emmy, I don't much care for her voice as a rule, but it's adequate for Jemima and has that "pure" quality to it. And my brain always thinks that anyone who had played Christine should play Jemima too, probably thanks to Sarah Brightman who basically set the standard for both roles thanks to her then-husband Mr. Webber, who wrote roles specifically for her voice.
